More About This Book

Overview

They smelled the foul odors. They heard the power saw buzzing in the dead of night but neighbors never imagined the horrors happening right next door.

The hot sultry night of July 22, 1991 was one the tenants of the Oxford Apartments would never forget. A panic stcricken young man—a pair of handcuffs still dangling from his wrists—ran out of Apartment 213 and told police an incredible tale of terror.

Shaking with fear, he led officers back to his captor's lair, where they made the gruesome discovery. Inside were the body parts of at least fifteen men—including torsos stuffed into a barrel, severed heads in a refrigerator, and skulls boiled clean and stashed in a filing cabinet. Tacked to the freezer were Poloroid photographs of mutilated corpses.

When investigators arrested 31-year-old Jeffrey Dahmer, they realized they had stumbled onto a "real-life Hannibal Lecter"—a sadistic murderer who told them he had saved a human heart "to eat later". What could turn a handsome, former tennis player, the son of middle-class parents, into a perverse serial killer whose unthinkable acts shocked the nation?

The Jeffrey Dahmer Story takes you into Jeffrey Dahmer's twisted world of bizarre sexual encounters, mutilation and cannibalism—in one of history's most appalling true crime cases.

With 8 pages of chilling photographs.

The entire country witnessed a horror show of mutilated bodies uncovered in Jeffrey Dahmer's second floor apartment--all victims of his ten-year murderous rampage. This true story takes readers into Dahmer's den of death--a twisted world of bizarre sexual encounters, mutilation, and cannibalism. Photographs. Available now.

The Jeffrey Dahmer Story: And American Nightmare

This book is good if you want to read about the history of Milwaukee or if you want to know about the victoms pass and victom's familys. The beginning was okay I did not really like the beginning mutch as I like the middel of the book. I only like the parts where they talk about Jeffrey Dahmer and how he killed his victoms and how Dahmer's life was as a teenager and a small chiled. But the ending was very good.

    What was I reading again?

This was one of the most boring books I have read in a long time! There were chapters in this book that made me actually stop and think about what it was I was reading. There was so much information given that had nothing to do with the storey of Dahmer and the information that did pertain to him was repeated in every other chapter. I do not recommend this book...save your money!

    Repetitious

So, while reading, I tried to figure out what the author was arguing, based on the title, but it wasn't clear. He kept repeating certain events and by the middle of the book I felt like I hadn't really learned anything about Dahmer. I have read many true crime books, and this was one of the worst due to its repetition and the lack of a central argument about Dahmer.

    Kind of shallow

At only 200 pages, this book spends too much of its brief length discussing the impact Dahmer's crimes had on race relations in Milwaukee. That aspect of the case was interesting, but there wasn't enough about Dahmer himself, and too much about his social impact.

Unlike some previous reviewers, I enjoyed the history lessons, but again there wasn't enough detail about Dahmer's history. The author mentions his parents' bitter arguments and divorce, and that the event may have been pivotal in Dahmer's development, but he hardly spends any time on it. What were the fights about? Why did the parents argue only over custody of the younger son? There just wasn't enough detail.

If you know little about this case and want an entertainingly-written overview, then this book is for you. But if you're already familiar with the case and want more insight, look elsewhere.

    good and bad

This book was good for the most part. the end was a little boring and i had to make myself read it. They go into too much detail about his case study and the debate about racism. The first half of the book was well written, it went into deep detail of the way he treated his victims and his living environment. If you haven't heard much about Dahmer, this is a must read because it gives a lot of information and background history.

What was this book about again?

Personally I believe this was not a well-written book. While the intricate details of Jeffrey Dahmer and his unusual activities were appealing, much of the book was unnecessary ramblings of the boring history of the town Dahmer grew up in and his ongoing trial proceedings.

    HORRIBLE!

This is one of the worst books I have ever read! There is so much useless information in it and the author repeats the same victims story 3 times! I do not recommend this book!

    A Fascinating Read

This was the first publication about Jeffrey Dahmer's murders, and, in my opinion, it is the best. Its contents may be disturbing and morbid, but it is never dull. Truly engrossing.
