Overview

“The Snake Riders of Spacemark Four” is the second thrilling adventure of the “Jenny In Space” series. This episode continues the heroic efforts of a 13-year-old named Jenny Thompson. In episode one, a mysterious housekeeper named Relli was hired to bring order to a household in chaos. Relli quickly becomes Jenny’s devoted friend, plus one more complication; she is able to predict the future. Relli reveals visions that change Jenny's life forever. "I see the name 'Jenny of Earth' emblazoned across the cosmos,” Relli once said to Jenny. “The Snake Riders of Spacemark Four” is the first step in fulfilling Relli’s outlandish prophesy. Jenny and her alien travelling companion, named Born, must make a stop at Spacemark Four in order to get repairs on Born's ship, The Traveler, which was damaged by the "Killer Comet". Jenny is accompanying Born to his home planet of Soilanglobe, where they will both receive a hero's welcome for saving Earth, the Soilan's best water supply planet. Once at Spacemark Four, Jenny experiences a culture much like her own but in very large proportion. Her hosts are a twenty-feet-tall race of beings. "The Giants" live within a massive dome, a technological and architectural masterpiece built to shield them from the harsh environment outside. The Giants are in a feud with another race of people known as The Treech. The Treech, being more similar in size to Jenny and Born, live within the earth and ride massive tunneling snakes. The snakes are essential to the Treech, helping to carve underground towns out of the rock itself. The planet’s only natural water supply has been trapped in underground pockets but is very difficult to find. The Giants and Treech mine for it in their own ways and constantly battle over water rights. A Treech raiding party breaks into the repair bay and steals some of the water held in the Traveler's storage tanks, an offence punishable by death in Giant law. They obtain an added bonus, two hostages. The Treech refuse to release Jenny and Born until a ransom of water is paid. They are desperate for water, to the near point of extinction of their race. Jenny and Born are terrified of the marauders and the snakes they ride. The raiding party manages a daring escape. Jenny soon becomes fascinated by the snakes and Treech culture. She is told of a Treech prophesy that describes a time, such as now, when the Treech are on the brink of extinction due to lack of water. It tells of a small but brave champion from a faraway place that adopts and embraces the Treech ways. The one rides a wild snake into battle and saves the Treech race from extinction. As time goes by, the Treech begin to believe that Jenny is destiny’s provider, delivered in a time of great need. Although Relli has predicted an adventure of great importance; Jenny is having a hard time believing that she can do anything to help these desperate people. Jenny feels the pressure of their expectations. Come, join Jenny, and be a part of every exciting moment. Share in the laughter and friendships she forms and the bond of respect she unconsciously forges between her and a worthy race of beings that live in the depths of Spacemark Four.

Meet the Author

I loved writing these two books, and hope to continue the series. I have always enjoyed adventure books with an inspirational hero. Stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I wanted to write a series of adventure stories with the main character a young girl. Girls need to know that they are heroes, too. In writing these stories, initially, I needed to get Jenny up in space; thus, Chasing The Killer Comet was created. Jenny exemplifies courage during exciting and dangerous circumstances. Please, give Jenny in Space a try...and if you do, I hope you like it.
