Overview

The general public is becoming more and more frustrated and sometimes outraged at the behavior of some people and it’s not just certain CEO’s, terrorists, major financial scam artists, and dictators. Rarely a day goes by when someone doesn’t talk about a jerk they’ve just seen.

Everyday in the newspaper, on radio and T.V., and on the internet there are comments and articles about jerks. All over the country we have “The Rant”, the “Jerk of the Day/Week”, and “Flip-off or flip-up” segments on the air. These segments are rapidly gaining in popularity because people want to share their feelings and frustrations. That’s the premise of JERKS WE ALL KNOW©. People are tired of jerks.

I didn’t write this book thinking it would make all of the problems in the world go away but, no doubt, the world would be a better place if people would stop doing “jerkish” things. I wrote the book because I wanted to convey a message.

My thinking was… ‘How about I write a book about jerks? It will point out what, I believe, most people think about jerks. If it makes even one person realize how they act is wrong, and they change, it will be worth it. And, if it doesn’t, just writing about it might be a good therapy for my frustrations (and maybe the reader’s frustrations) with jerks.’

I told a few friends, family members, co-workers and even strangers about my idea. Most of them immediately launched into their latest encounter with a jerk. Right now you may be thinking of a jerk you’ve seen recently - probably today.

This book is a very easy read. It simply gives over 200 examples of how jerks act in various environments, e.g., at work, out shopping, in vehicles, in business and management, in school, etc. Some of the comments you will read may come across as a bit harsh, unkind, childish, sophomoric and maybe bordering on “jerkish” in their own right. Sorry.

I use the words “they” and “you” throughout the book. There is no intent to target or discriminate against any race, gender, religious group, political party, age group, vocation, etc. But, as the saying goes, “If the shoe fits…”
