Management consultant Jones draws on the leadership techniques of Jesus Christ to provide guidance tips on inspiring and managing others. (Apr.)
Library Journal
The author, the owner of a marketing, advertising, and business development firm, examines the life of Jesus and gleans from it useful advice for leaders of businesses and other formal organizations. She observes that Jesus was particularly strong in three areas: self-mastery, action, and relationships. Using each of these strengths as a title for a section in the book, she reflects on various aspects of his life and teachings. Although some Christians might be surprised by some of her theological interpretations, e.g., one chapter is titled "He Kept in Constant Contact with his Boss," others will find this book a novel approach to the old problem of making Christian teachings relevant to modern organizational life. A similar but nonreligious approach to encouraging humane leadership is Keshavan Nair's A Higher Standard of Leadership: Lessons from the Life of Gandhi LJ 12/1/84. Recommended for public libraries. [Previewed in Prepub Alert, LJ 9/1/94.]-Andrea C. Dragon, Coll. of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J.

    Not what I expected

This was not what I expected. Would have like more on Jesus and less on other subjects

    Thought-provoking and useful

Jesus CEO is an insightful, thought-provoking look at Christ. Laurie Beth Jones shows us that the example of Jesus is a well-spring for moral reflection that never runs dry. This was an early inspiration to me in my own writing journey.

    'Exceptional!'

As a team leader, I am always on the lookout for good paradigms on leadership. This book is written in a reader-friendly, biblically-based, and extremely useful manner. Other than the 'leadership' section of 'With Joseph in the University of Adversity', this one of the few leadership exemplars based upon a biblical character. These characteristics of leadership are truly applicable to our contemporary world, yet gleaned from the life of Christ, and done well. Should be a must-read in business schools!

    Excellent

It really shows you the characteristics of Jesus as a leader, which you can apply to your position as a leader of a company, or even just everyday life as a leader.

    Simple

The principle is simple, the foundation credible and the application ¿ remarkable. Principles of effective business can best be demonstrated by Christ.

Learn - that you are an 'I am' - and why some people are not leaders

I was searching for all the right tools to make me an effective leader in my startup. My business partner Shigeru Kawaguchi recommended that I read Jesus, CEO. I told him that I needed to know the lessons learned from a strong successful female leader. Within hours I received a copy of Jesus, CEO. I am a minority and a female in the information technology field. I have no alternative but to have the right stuff. Especially, since I am not good at B.S. I knew that I needed some guidance and did not want to turn out like the incompetent, screaming and ignorant leaders I have had the opportunity to work with. This book helped me understand why some people are not leaders and why I am! This book helped me realize that I am my I am and to lead like Jesus. This book is exactly what I needed to motivate me to a higher level. Thanks Shigeru for your recommendation and THANK YOU LAURIE BETH JONES YOU ARE A BLESSING.

    Jesus of this world

I am a christian and teacher in the public school system. The two attributes are very often immiscible. This book teaches how to incorporate Jesus' principles of leadership into everyday life as he so successfully did even though he and we, as christians are 'not of this world'. I use the book as a daily devotional to accompany my bible. The questions at the end of each chapter are very thought provoking as well.

    Great Book ... but

This wonderful book articulates some of the greatest principals of leadership ever written. It is unfortunate that the author used this topic to promote herself and her other services through none too subtle references to her directorships and other attributes. Not surprisingly the information on how to contact her for such an engagement is at the end of the book.

One of my top 5 books of all time

In addition to reading the Bible, this book helps provide some terrific insight and inspiration with a positive and unique twist. A MUST HAVE for a Christian business person's library.

    Must read!

As a upper-level manager, I have recommended this book to all of my first line supervisors. The success and following of Christ is unquestionable. If each of us possessed a small fraction of his insightful leadership skills, corporate bickering / rivaly / dissension would melt away in an instant. The building up of our fellow man should always be our ultimate goal - business success is natural outpoaring of this goal! Jesus CEO is a wonderful guide through the scripture that enabled me to turn my 'corp' heart closer to God.
