Jesus on Parenting

Overview

What a thought-provoking question, and one that no one has really answered -- until now.

Our children are blessings. But let's face it. They also can be hard to handle. Parenting is exhausting and requires leadership, two characteristics that Jesus knew well. He knew what it was like to be exhausted when the crowds pushed in. He served as a leader every day, guiding his disciples by example. In this compelling book, Teresa Whitehurst presents ten principles drawn from the ...

In this compelling book, Teresa Whitehurst presents ten principles drawn from the lessons and actions of Jesus. Using modern-day examples, she discusses such topics as contemporary parenting trends that are at odds with Jesus' teaching, parenting temptations, and how to help your children be more receptive to Jesus' message. She'll help you apply each principle to your own spiritual and character development and guide you to consider how living by these principles affects children and families.

    False Teacher

'Ask a conservative Christian about Jesus' teachings, and you'll be told that they're wonderful spiritual teachings-for the inner life, not the outer.' ~Dr. Teresa Whitehurst...... No Bible believing Christian would say something like this, and this applies to the author. Her quote is basically saying that Jesus never expected us to LIVE a certain way. Kinda flies in the face of 'Faith without works is dead' doesn't it??

    True Christian Parenting

I read this book, cover to cover, and loved it! Not once does the author recommend harsh treatment of children, but rather keeps to the model that Jesus presented in his life and teachings. This warm and friendly book gently leads parents to emulate Jesus by being a good example to children, respecting their needs as well as the parent's own needs, to heal relationships, to strive for deep empathy, to be patient, forgiving and merciful, to encourage and uplift, and to protect children in their profound vulnerability. These basic principles are vital to good, healthy parenting, indeed to all relationships. This is a deeply comforting book, embodying the true values of Christianity and applying them to the parent/child relationship.
