Overview

This disc features 13 uplifting performances of songs from and inspired by CBS's "Jesus: The Epic Mini-series." Obviously, this is no ordinary miniseries, nor is it an ordinary soundtrack: High calibre artists have answered the call, including country sensations Leann Rimes and Lonestar as well as contemporary Christian artists Jaci Velasquez, DC Talk, and Steven Curtis Chapman. Gospel diva Yolanda Adams gives up an inspired reading of Earth, Wind, and Fire's "Shining Star," complete with new words that draw out a sacred message. Pop superstars 98° break things down with the ballad "The Love that You've Been Looking For." Highlights of the disc include "City by a River," a six-minute anthem matching Hootie and the Blowfish with a gospel choir, and an aching version of Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful "Pie Jesu," sung by Broadway's Sarah Brightman. This latter selection is also included on the JESUS original score, available separately. Karl Hagstrom Miller

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
The original soundtrack to the television movie Jesus features a wide array of pop, soul, and contemporary Christian artists, including Yolanda Adams, Lonestar, Steven Curtis Champman and Jaci Velasquez. LeAnn Rimes' "I Need You," Patrick Williams' "Jesus," Hootie & The Blowfish's "City By A River," 98 Degrees' "The Love That You've Been Looking For" and Michael English's "Heaven To Earth" are among the highlights of this diverse celebration of Jesus Christ, which also includes performances by Sarah Brightman and Edwin McCain.

WOW! I just listened to Jesus Sountrack today, and I was floored at how well it was put together. Popular singers/songwriters from both rock, country, christian contemporary, as well as pop all pulled together to show the world that it is COOL TO LOVE JESUS! I got chills when listening to it, and so will you! Cool music to just listen to, anytime. I know that the secular world will even embrace the songs from Hootie, 98 Degrees...and we already know what a hit the LeeAnn Rimes song is! Don't even think about this one...just order it now! You'll be blessed.
