Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.""But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:13-16). Seeing teenagers come to recognize Jesus as the Christ is the reason you do what you do. You're passionate about helping students move beyond a cursory understanding of biblical events into a thriving, growing, and life-changing relationship with Jesus. This resource will help you to do just that. These Bible studies grew out of our own youth ministry in a small town in northern Colorado and were part of a year-long series David led that overviewed the story of God. Throughout the study series, we saw non-Christian seekers grow curious and look more closely at Jesus, saw students make first-time commitments of faith to Christ, and saw Christian teenagers' connection with Jesus deepen to a new level of love and commitment. The 12 studies in this book follow the generally recognized chronology of Jesus' life. They'll help you lead teenagers through an in-depth and comprehensive look at Jesus, from the Old Testament prophecies foretelling his arrival to John's vision of Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb who reigns in the book of Revelation. Students will get a big picture perspective on Jesus' mission, his kingdom, his sacrifice, and his love. And they'll move beyond just acquiring knowledge; as they encounter Jesus, their lives will be changed and their hearts transformed.
