Overview

From the pages of Biblical history comes a story of power, pride, evil, and good told with great vividness and suspense by Dorothy Clarke Wilson.

Few women have equaled Jezebel's combination of beauty and wickedness, and few have been as successful in seducing the men in their lives.

As a young princess, Jezebel, rides with her wedding train through the parched hills of Israel, and realizes there is more to be gained from her impending marriage than political and economic advantages.

Steeped in the mood and spirit of an ancient culture, Jezebel uses flattery and deceit to lure her husband, King Ahab, and the people of Israel away from the worship of Yahweh, a just and fair god, towards allegiance to Melkart, a god of war and human sacrifice.

With cunning, she cultivates the ambitions of her husband and breeds intrigue within the palace. She plots her own son's death, murders her enemies, betrays her husband and his people many times over. But Jezebel finds it a more difficult task to influence the prophets of Israel and, thus, sets off a classic struggle between the forces of good and evil.

This is a great read when you want mystery and suspense.

The story of Jezebel is one of suspense, drama and deception – which make for a great story. Dorothy Clarke Wilson’s Jezebel is an entertaining read that uses her educated knowledge of the characters, travel experience to the actual locations used in the novel, and talent as a writer to create a plot that contains everything a reader wants in a novel you can’t put down.

The novel of Jezebel tells the story of the woman who used her beauty and conniving ways to maintain power over her husband and ultimately the people of Israel. Wilson takes Jezebel out of the pages of the Bible and creates a dramatic character that no one wants to root for!

There is much suspense in Jezebel, and Wilson does a wonderful job weaving historical accuracy with fiction to create a fun read – her understanding of the time period and the ability to describe the landscape and location of many settings in the novel make it a timeless story for people of all ages.

The Bible is filled with notable characters – both good and evil, and Wilson is the utmost authority in this genre. Her deep roots in biblical studies and exceptional storytelling allows readers to identify with the men and women we have all heard about, but have never had a chance to understand as everyday people.
