Life And Death At Parkland Hospital

On November 22, 1963, Dr. Charles Crenshaw, an accomplished surgeon, tried to save John F. Kennedy's life -- and then days later, the life of the alleged assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. His gripping, firsthand account contradicts the Warren Commission and years of public misperception to illuminate a chapter in American history long cloaked in conspiracy.

Writing with eye-opening immediacy, Dr. Crenshaw takes readers into the emergency room to share the critical events at Parkland Hospital as he lived them. Now updated, his searing testimony punctures myths and shatters a cover-up of massive proportions.

"Hard-hitting, courageous, and correct in every respect." —Cyril Wecht, M.D., J.D.

"Dr. Crenshaw offers his expert opinion with persuasive evidence. Read this page-turning account of the Kennedy assassination." —Robert K. Tanenbaum

Excellent read for anyone interested in getting a professional's view of Kennedy's murder. I had to laugh reading the review below stating "what I got is another conspiracy book" (See: "I bought this book hoping to get an eyewitness account"). No, what you got were the facts coming from a doctor that was actually there at Parkland hospital, in the room as they tried to save the President. It's funny to me when people reject evidence simply because it doesn't fit their belief system. Given the incredible amount of evidence that's leaked out over 5 decades, I find it shocking that anyone could possibly still cling to the absurd idea that Oswald did it, and he did it alone. You truly have to have blinders on to believe anything of the sort in 2014. Dr. Crenshaw's expert account is well worth your time if you're interested in the truth.

I bought this book hoping to get an eyewitness account of the medical treatment of JFK and Oswald. What I got was another conspiracy book. I don't want to disrespect the late Dr. Crenshaw, but he was only starting his 3rd year of a 5 year surgical residency. I don't believe that makes him an expert in forensics or ballistics. Some of the associations that are used to declare a certain conspiracy are ridiculous. For example, Dr. Crenshaw states that the only reason that JFK's body was rushed out of Parkland without an autopsy was to enable conspirators to alter the body to fit into the lone gunman theory. Sure, there were inappropriateness and incompetence all about, but you have to remember that this was a shock to all involved and no one knew if this was part of a plot to take out the top of America s government. The secret service wanted to protect LBJ and LBJ would not leave without Mrs. Kennedy. Mrs. Kennedy would not leave without her husbands body. Therefore, things were rushed that should not have been rushed. The incompenet Navy pathologist just added to the muck. Mrs. Kennedy chose Bethesda since her husband was in the navy. No one took the time to make sure that the chain of evidence was intact and highly competent pathologists performed the autopsy. The idea that Jack Ruby fired at JFK is ridiculous. There is no evidence he even knew how to handle a rifle and he was an ardent JFK supporter. Yes, the FBI screwed up by not informing the secret service about Oswald. However,do you really think the Dallas sheriff, police, secret service, and FBI would let gunman perch on the Stemmons overpass or at the grassy knoll fence? They were well aware that there were many open windows but there was nothing they could do to guarantee there wasn't a sniper. JFK's driver reacted like an incompetent when the first shot was fired, almost slowing to a crawl. Even Mrs.Kennedy described his reactions to that of her children's nanny. Another point that is not brought up is that JFK did not grab his throat. If you look at the Zapruder film carefully, his elbows flail upwards and his hands make a fist. This is called the Thorburg response to spinal cord injury, the result ot the 2nd shot (first one to hit him) entering his upper back and exiting near his tie knot. The magic bullet theory is really not magic. Failure Analysis (a company that investigates airplane crashes, etc and uses technology to recreate the scened) has shown that the bullet traveled in a straight line through Kennedy and Connally. Rmember Connally was seated lower and inboard to Kennedy and the bullet did not hit major bone in JFK. The bullet slowed but did not need to "jump" in midair. There are many things about Nov 22 that we will never know. But just because we can't piece every detail together or explain every decision that was made under duress, doesn't mean was a conspiracy. I have no doubt that many groups and individuals wanted Kennedy dead just as every President receives threats. In addition, when a traumatic event occurs, recollections are often skewed. There were people who claimed there was a little dog between JFK and Jackie. Even Mrs. Kennedy couldn't recall why she got on the trunk. She thought it was to retrieve part of the President's brain but she wasn't sure if that was why or if she had read it somewhere. If you want systematic investigation into conspiracy theories, read Gerald Posner's Case Closed.
