About the Author

I am a mixed blood Delaware Indian who was born in a one room cabin on a cold winters day in 1940. My father was a hunter/trapper woodsman, and farmed a small three acre plot of land in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. We had no running water, electricity or indoor plumbing in our small cabin. I lost half my eyesight by age three and half my teeth by age eighteen. I have been severely scarred by animal bites and stabbed by men on the mean streets of Oakland, California. (My "body art" is scar tissue.) I started college at age 25 and finally ended at age 65. My idea of wealth is water on tap, electric lights, flush toilets and being able to stay warm at night. I hold an LL.B. in Law; a B.A. in Political Science, a Masters of Public Administration (M.P.A.) and a teaching credential taken at the University of California, Berkeley.
