From the mind of best-selling author Jim Butcher, an ALL-NEW, COMPLETELY ORIGINAL Dresden Files story that pits Chicago's mystical detective against bloodthirsty rural monsters. Harry Dresden, a Chicago private investigator and wizard, heads to a small, isolated Missouri town terrorized by Nevernever monsters. The singularly unfortunate Talbot family has suffered a curse that has decimated their number for generations, and only our hero can save them... that is, if he can survive hostile lawmen, the dark secrets of townsfolk, an ancient guardian spirit, and two deadly carnivores! Can Dresden cleanse the Talbot bloodline of its curse without a blood sacrifice of his own?

This is truly unfortunate; we were sold an autographed copy of the book. What we're receiving is a book with an insert that says this is an autographed copy of the book, and it is signed--it's not numbered, as it allows for, just signed.

    An insert.

That's not a signed copy. That's a signed insert in the book. Who convinced Mr. Butcher that this was an okay thing to do to fans? I will remain a huge, huge fan of everything Butcher authors, however, this is really a pretty half-baked scheme. I don't know if it's Barnes & Noble, the publisher, or some representative who cooked up this scheme, but that's just what it is: a scheme. Sad.

    Dresden fans must have!

Loved this book, but wished autograph was in or on book, not on a separate piece of paper inserted into book....

I pre-ordered this book. It never arrived. It was suppose to be a Christmas present. No word from Barnes and Noble on where the book is or when I will ever receive it. Based on the comments below, I just want my money back. HORRIBLE customer service on Barnes and Noble's end.

While the story is good and typical Butcher/Dresden, I feel that we fans have been hood-winked by the description that this is a "Signed exclusive edition".

It makes me question the integrity of all parties involved.

FYI: I've got the same problem as the previous poster.  I preordered the book during the post-Thanksgiving period, for some reason it was postponed or delayed in shipping (customer service said that the book was unavailable). When the book finally arrives, it's NOT signed. Instead, there's a card claiming that the book was autographed (it's the card that's autographed) and that the book ISNT one of the 1000 signed copies.

In other words, both the "autographed" and "limited" modifiers don't actually apply to this edition. I feel like I'm the victim of a bait-and-switch.
