    Excellent Resource

I bought my first copy of this book from Varney's Bookstore while in college 20 years ago because I could afford it and it looked interesting. I am ordering another one as the one I own is grease stained and well loved. I have tried many of the recipes in this book and they all turn out fantastic. I love to cook, and baking is my "specialty". I've never been dissapointed by a recipe in this book.
I've also been amused over the years by the occassional odd ingredient that authenticates the era of some of the recipes (one calls for rendered chicken fat and another describes in detail how to cut a fresh pineapple for a cake).
Some personal favorites are Aunt Irma's sugar cookies which remain crisp and delicious after baking--the texture is amazing. Also love the Blondies recipe, the Russian Tea Balls, and the Lemon bars. The Coconut crunch cake is quick and delicous. LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!

    Fool proof recipes!

This book is FABULOUS! I bought it for myself and have also given this book as a gift. Myself and my friends have all made different recipes from this book and they all have come out perfectly! There are great recipes in here. Some of my favorites are the lemon bars and blondies. The book is organized extremely well.
