Meet the Author

Jim Murray is a legend and a leading player on the world’s whisky stage. In his continuous thirst for knowledge and desire to stay at the very top of his subject, he has almost certainly visited more distilleries and tasted a higher number of different whiskies than anyone that has ever lived. Uncompromisingly independent, he is never afraid to pour scorn on those deserving or to champion whiskies previously unfashionable or unknown.

    A 97.5!

Jim's books are great guides for the novice and expert whisky lovers out there. He covers not just Scotland, but American bourbons, Canadian whiskies, etc. Realize your own experience with a whisky may vary vs his, with different bottlings, etc. But as a general guide, he hasn't steered me wrong. Great whiskies (97.5 out of 100, hence the title) are really great. Lesser ones....remain either an economic choice or on the shelf. A side note: there really are differences year to year. I might not buy this every year, but it would be interesting to get this again in a couple of years.
