Overview

In this guide to the Book of Job for the lay person, the author exhorts us to "Walk Upright", and live a holy and faultless life in the sight of God, regardless of what happens. He relates this to the example of Job, who lived an upright life and was in possession of riches, wealth and influence known to few others of his time, and graced with a loving family and a love of God.

In detailing the story of suffering, pain and ultimate redemption experienced by Job, the author asks the question: "Why Not Job"; in fact: "Why Not Us/Me"?

This, the first treatment and full explication of Job in over a decade, is fully illuminated by abundant references to modern life and the present-day struggles and afflictions known to man. Finally, the Book of Job addresses more than Job's suffering, but also the question of how we should conduct our family life and "Walk Upright." Any Christian who has known suffering and pain (and who has not), will benefit enormously from reading this book, and concluding with the author, that "God's wisdom is beyond human comprehension."

About the Author

Gregory V. Jones, Jr., was born in Durham, NC. His mother's God-fearing background, faith and trust in the Lord was an important part of his upbringing. These Biblical principles have provided guidance and inspiration throughout his adult life.

Dr. Jones graduated from Methodist University and later pursued graduate studies in Clinical Psychology and Religion. His belief in family provides the foundation for his life. His exceptional athletic skills propelled him to All-American status and Player-of-the-Year during his basketball career. Later, his Jersey #21 was retired and he was inducted into the Methodist University Hall of Fame.

Dr. Jones dedicates a great deal of his time to writing books, screenplays and the development of his and Pure Shooter Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to help, heal and bring renewed hope to individuals.

His love, commitment and passion for others stem from his belief that he has been blessed with his own family. Nonetheless, like Job, Dr. Jones has experienced unbearable pain and suffering. Dr. Jones made a vow that if God healed him, he would write this powerful book, explaining the Book of Job to laypersons and, especially, exploring its implications for leading an Upright life in today's world.
