School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 3-5-These somewhat special titles are rich with illustrations and short chapters, and are more notable for their breadth of coverage than for their depth. The format is almost magazinelike, and nearly all of the full-color and archival photos were obtained directly from the respective institutions. Each book includes a spread on the family and one on the first lady. Additionally, gifts to the presidents are discussed. The lives of Bush and Reagan after their terms in office are handled succinctly, ignoring any controversial or negative events. Twenty-four pages give readers a quick skim through the lives of these leaders. The information is too limited to consider these books as first purchases; they are serviceable additions only where there is a great interest in the subject or if the community has a "favorite son" president.-Erlene Bishop Killeen, Fox Prairie Elementary School, Stoughton, WI Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
