John Wayne: The Genuine Article provides readers a rare glimpse into the life of one of the most iconic movie stars of all time through a treasure trove of memorabilia, stories, and interviews. This definitive book includes John Wayne Enterprises' collection of never-before-seen letters and telegrams as well as incredibly compelling text from Wayne's unfinished memoir. Important milestones in the Academy Award-winning actor, director, and producer's life are also well documented here through anecdotes, photos, and visually rich ephemera including boots, hats, and saddles. The story of John Wayne's rise, reach, and influence in American culture is alive and well in this brilliant opus. "A man's got to do what a man's got to do." "Out here, due process is a bullet." John Wayne's "speak low, speak slow, and don't say too much" film persona meshed almost perfectly with his day-to-day identity. John Wayne: The Genuine Article takes us into the life of the Hollywood legend, even as it celebrates his long career. Fully authorized by the John Wayne Enterprises estate, this unprecedented book contains extensive excerpts from the star's private letters, unfinished memoir, and other personal writings. It also contains family snapshots, film stills, reproductions of correspondence, and other memorabilia. This unique celebration gives us our fullest view yet of a genuine American icon.

Excellent value in price and literary quality and entertainment

My husband continues to enjoy this book which I purchased for him. There is so much to explore on the life of John Wayne ... He is the "Real Deal" and well known "Patriot".

    Excellent Coffee Table Book

Not exactly a "good read" but an excellent coffee table book. Very interesting information, copied memorabilia and photos.
The lack of continuity of time line moved me back and forwards in the book on occasion - but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
