    Wow

After I read this book I felt disgusted, intrigued, happy, sad, and a little sick. This book is one of the best graphic novels I've ever read. It is so sick that makes me laugh out loud. The creepy thing is the author makes you sympathize with the main character who is of course a HOMIDAL MANIAC. At parts I questioned my own sanity for sympthizing with a lunatic madman. Any book that does that has to be amaizing. Any person with a sense of humor should read this.

    Great great book

Johnny is like someone we all have inside of ourselves, come to life in the form of a cartoon. He is a maniac, but when he calms down enough, he is most definitely smarter than many MANY people who are considered 'sane'. A great read if you like a bit of violence and some dark humor.

Nny's tale is intriguing, emotioinal, and hilarious! He's a great guy, even though he's insane. The Director's Cut was amazing and I had to go back and read any and every word from cover to cover. It was brillant and I am addicted. I call the Director's Cut the love of my life.

One of the BEST comics ever

JtHM is probably one of the best and original comics I have ever read. Jhonen truly is a genius and I probably won't be able to hold back my rabid fangirling. When I first got this book, I could NOT put it down. Even though Johnny sometimes... or most of the time... kills people who I don't believe deserve it (even if they are annoying and rude), there is a very satisfying part where he brutally kills a child molestor. :D

I loved the Happy Noodleboy bits too! They are so amazingly random and had me laughing so hard!

Basically, if you haven't bought JtHM yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! Go get it now!!

    Johnny the Homicidal Maniac

Amazing book! I enjoyed this more than I may have enjoyed any other book, as I found it just an amazing show of originality. Well done, Jhonen! For all you people reading this, I would definantly recommend this graphic novel to you. Of course, though, be warned that this is NOT a book you should give to younger children, because of harsh language and violence (hence the name). But, it is surely something you should check out, and anyone who has good taste in comic books could tell you that this is a must have for people who love something "different" from todays novels! If anyone reading this is familiar with the show Invader Zim, and you enjoyed it, then you should also check it out, because this is from the creator of that show! Although, if you are worried about those points I made earlier, then the less harsh Squee may be for you. Anyways, out of five stars, I think this is an easy eight and a half!

    Oh it is love. :D

Johnny is extremely violent and yet... There's something about him one can't quite resist. He seems to be as kind as possible to his victims and his veiw on torture is very interesting. As if the pain someone goes though just proves that they're alive. I enjoyed this book and read it well over ten times and still haven't gotten tired of it.

This book's remarkable artwork and intriguing storyline kept me reading it longer than humanly possible. It should definitely be required reading for grade-school students.

    absolutely most hilarious

This is absolutely the most hilarious thing i have ever read, kept me up way past my bed time on work nights. The outstanding artwork teamed up with a mindboggling story line that is a nonstop laugh fest that will make you think about todays society with humor and reality. A must read for anyone self respecting JUGGALO! I think ill dress up like nny this yaer for hallowickid.

    for fans only, i guess.

i borrowed this book from a friend who is really into johnny the homicidal maniac - it really didn't spark my interest at all. the reading was a little simplistic and i couldn't really find the humor in it. i would recommend it to a younger age group, i guess (i'm 21) - it is relatively immature.

A Wonderful Book Full Of Stuff

A dark, twisted book that makes you laugh the entire way through. These books raised the bar for all comics. Johnny may be a murderer but you can't help but love him. Johnny's 'morals' make you look at the world in a different way. But, please, don't follow his morals, that would not be good. After reading this book, I began to see everything in Jhonen vision. This book was the begining of horrible, horrible obsessiveness with Jhonen-y stuff. Well, I suppose, he was the one that it would be horrible for. He just gained himslef another insane, lover of everything Jhonen fan. Oh, well.

    Disappointing! Honestly!

I am writing this review because I want to shine a different light on this book for potential buyers. With so many positive reviews, I am surprised at how terrible I feel this book is. I am a fan of graphic novels, and this book was not entertaining for me in the least bit. There are brief moments of intelligent thoughts and character dialog, but the majority of the book is tiresome and uninteresting. I assume the author's intended audience is adults due to the gore and some complex ideas, but there is virtually no story to carry the reader through the book. The only reason I give this 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the several spots in the book where the author conveys a well-stated message. Even so, these messages are hardly groundbreaking or revelation inducing. Lastly, there are filler comic strips known as Happy Noodle Boy strewn throughout which are absolutely horrid to read because they are completely incoherent. I suppose they are meant to be funny, but I read every single one, and they are all garbage. I did finish this book, and I heavily discourage purchasing it. Examples of graphic novels I highly recommend are Daytripper and Maus.

    Highly Recommended

Okay. I haven't actually read this yet (It's supposed to come in tomorrow-fingers crossed!) but I read some clips off-line. All I can say is WOW. It's creepy, hilarious, and moved me to tears in some of the later parts. That's all. Anyone who's ever been an outcast should definitly read this.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac scores again!

I would not understand anyone who didn't like this comic. I'm not particularly into violent graphic novels/comics, and even though this compilation of Jhonen Vasquez's first comic is very gory, it is the characters that I fall in love with. Especially Johnny. I am extremely sympathetic to him and even though he kills people all the time, I feel like he is a justified fictional character. It's all good fun, try not to read it before you go to sleep though, it'll give you nightmares!

    Nny :D

okay, first things first. you DO NOT need to be a human-hating, all black wearing, "goth" to read this amazing book. in fact, most people consider me a prep. this book fits anyone's personality as long as you have the brain capacity to understand it/seperate it from reality and just a book. anyways, onto the book! this is basically the only comic i have ever enjoyed reading. it is borderline genius. the comedy is sarcastic and dark, yet surprisingly random and light-hearted. there are some moments that really make you think, but right after there's a completely random moment that makes it less awkward, haha. you will find yourself feeling sympathetic for the main character, Johnny, as he is KILLING people (the victims kind of make it easy for you to criticize them). there are also moments throughout the book where you will completely agree with every insane idea that he says. if you think about it, this book actually gets pretty deep. i recommend this to anyone who actually enjoys a good read. :)

    Mesmerizing!

This book is a pure work of transgressive fiction. It is ambitious, hilarious, and vicious, and deep. It has elemts of Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho and Chuck Palahnuks Fight Club. It is a must read for people who like books of funny, disturbing and thought-provoking nature.
