Meet the Author

I was conceived in the fall after the summer when mankind first went to the moon.I was born exactly a year after man first touched down on the moon. Then I was raised the next little while on strict discipline and western shows.I remember when I was a boy a corn field where the stalks grew high over my head.I ran down the sun-dappled rows. My head was far below the corn-stalk tips and it seemed like a magic tunnel into another world; or the best place to be in this one.Time stopped in that corn-row and set itself in me; a small moment of eternity. If I was given the choice of one memory from this world to take with me when I leave it, that one would be it.There is no bittersweet quality to it; no pained memory of love lost from some beloved other who is gone, or never was.It is wholesome and free and powerful. It is good. It is one of those immortal memories that stay fresh forever.I discovered the first part of a great and beautiful secret in that corn-row; sitting like a turtle in the red dirt the corn was growing out of.And then I grew higher than the corn-rows and my head reached above them and I saw then, in a sky full of stars, another part of that great and beautiful secret I had begun to discover so long ago.So I climbed to the roof to see the stars better by; and I paced back and forth beneath the heavens; I walked the nails out of those shingles as I adventured the rediscovery of the wonder of life it seemed I had known long before. And that, I believe, is what life is; a long rediscovery we make in parts as we go.
