All Music Guide - Thom Jurek
Bear Family, the most venerable of German reissue labels, goes for it with this volume of historical renditions of the great Cajun anthem "Jole Blon." Each performer puts his spin on the song, adding something to it without ever losing its haunting essence. The only glaring omission here is the Iry LeJeune version from the 1940s. This is a fine volume for archivists and collectors.
