Webber and lyricist Tim Rice would find their feet with this kind of approach in 1970 when they recorded Jesus Christ Superstar, and Joseph is still best understood as a dry run for that success.

    The finest JOSEPH recording

This Joseph soundtrack is by far the best I have ever heard. Jason Donovan and Linzi Hateley give contributions that benefit the whole album. Even David Easter's Elvisesque Pharaoh can tickle you pink in the face. The overall cast is the best captured on record out of the 3 revival soundtracks. There is nothing bad about this recording, and I would recommend this more than any other Joseph soundtrack.
