This books gives a good view of the Prophet from accounts of people he interacted with. It contains many stories that help you to understand the Joseph better. It follows Joseph from his childhood to his death. The sources are cited well, which makes it nice to go find that source and read more from that particular person from a story. An excellent easy but still educating read.

Madsen's 'Joseph Smith the Prophet' is the very best biography on the Prophet I have read. His research is meticulous, his chapter notes deepen the story, and his treatment of the man is very fair. Very well written, which is typical of Truman Madsen. I have bought this book for many family members and friends over the years. I am grateful that B&N offers this and other Latter-day Saint titles at the best price I have found.
