This book makes me happy. I have never kept an art journal and honestly, never considered myself an artistic person. I do love color, though and love the process of making art. I'm the Mom of two young kids who love making projects and are currently writing in a journal from time to time. This book has inspired all of us to pick up our paint brushes and glitter glue! We want to write down what is going on in our lives and draw and paint and glue! We want to list everything we love and attach a color to it! This book is perfect for beginners. It is perfect for the non-artistic wannabe who just needs a little encouragement. Violette, the brilliant author, shows us how to do everything from making stencils, textures, paint scraping, borders, doodling, lettering right down to a tutorial on drawing faces. Journal Bliss is visually gorgeous. I keep it on the kitchen table and everyone who walks in can't help but grab it and flip through it. It is so much fun to think of the possibilities outlined in this book and then ACTUALLY DO THEM! I'm so glad I bought it and I am already planning on giving it as a gift to several people in my life.

So often I want to create a new page in my art journal, but just can't get started or I want something different and new for recharging. This book offers some basics that are very helpful even to experienced art journalers that just need alittle something to get over the bump.

This book I would say is great for someone who has an interest in art journaling and they don't know where to begin. For someone who just began an interest in art journals this is a book that leads you to a great start in the right direction. However, I really wish the journal examples/ illustrations would fit the size of the screen so you don't have to zoom into them. Zooming into the illustrations causes them to blur out but you can still read them.

This book is great for anyone intrigued by art journaling or looking for a way to express themselves artistically, but is a little intimidated by the "how-to". Violette leads you through with some really wonderful illustrations and the book is sure to get your creative juices flowing.
