This was more an essay than a book. Just 15 pages. Seems like there should be more. I'm glad it was free. I'd have hated to pay for it.

While interesting this book was a pretty short read. A little mumble jumbled, no real story or understanding of character.

A previous review really nailed it...a little skimpy. I see that and raise it to...a lot skimpy. Very disappointing. Cant think of anything i learned. Journals are treasures for sure but this one needs MORE to attain treasure status.

I thought I would like this book because I am a nurse and could associate with it, but I was disappointed. Author was very scattered with ideas and hard to follow, also book was very short.

I was disappointed at the short nature of this "book", if you could really call it that. A whole whopping 15 pages, that starts to whet your appetite and then directs you to follow up on the website for more. Glad it was a freebie, I'd be none to happy if I had actually paid for it. That being said, if the whole of it were available in either hard copy or ebook format I think it would be a worthwhile purchase and an engaging read.

Every American History student should read this journal to get an accutate view of what war and wounds meant to every soldier and family before medical advancements. Unlike today most wounded warriors died in squalid conditions. Thank Goodness for modern medicine available for today's soldiers. This is not just a story; it was life and death to our great great grandparents. LadyB

It was really short but it has good info if you wanted to know a little more about conditions in the civil war. What also dissapointed me was that in the back of the book it said that it was a work of fiction based upon the letters that this nurse wrote. If you really want a good civil war nurse book, you are better off purchasing a different, longer one.

I enjoy the topic but not this book! When i saw the topic the civil war nurse its a good topic what could be bad about it? It is not horrible but i dont think that it is very descriptive .
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!
Overview
This short story is based on letters written by Cornelia Hancock, Civil War nurse. Author Georgiann Baldino dramatizes what it took to survive the inhumane conditions. Women who served as nurses came from many different backgrounds, but most served well behind the front. Cornelia Hancock was one of a few who served in field hospitals. Her presence reminded soldiers why they were fighting.
