I loved this book so much I  checked if my local library had the other two books in Ebooks. No such luck. Sadly, they did not have them in paperback available either. It is an intense suspense novel, but also a beautiful romance. Drama, and conflict. Hidden baggage. Someone with an agenda. All melded together with vivid imagery, and emotion.
I always like to read about how a friend's sibling has matured in the years since the hero or heroine have seen them, and the way things such as feelings and perceptions change between them because of this. Dora has done a good job with this, as well as with the rest of her story. This is the third book in the collection, and since I have not read the other two, I can not say whether this one would have been enhanced by the reading of the other two or not.

I received this book free from Fred at The Book Club Network, the author Dora Hiers and her publisher Pelicanbookgroup in exchange for an honest review. A positive critique was not required. The opinions are my own,

I had the privilege of reading Journey¿s Embrace by Dora Hiers.

I had the privilege of reading Journey’s Embrace by Dora Hiers. This book delivered what it promised. From the first few chapters, there was suspense, hint of romance, and mystery. Anyone who enjoys books with danger and twists and turns would definitely enjoy reading Journey’s Embrace. I have quite a few people in my circle of friends I will be recommending this book too who enjoy books with mystery and adventure. I saw there were two more books before Journey’s Embrace in the series - I will be recommending those as well.

Mystery and Romance – my perfect combination! Someone is trying to kill Sage. Delaney is her white knight protecting her. They fight, they take care of each other, all while trying to stay safe. The mystery is good, the romance is good, what else do you need?

Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers was a page turner of suspence, mystery, and romance. We start off with an injured Sage Michaelson who was hurt in the line of duty as a U.S. Deputy Marshal. His best friend has asked him to keep an eye on his kid sister Delaney, while he is off on his honeymoon. Delaney Hunt, a flight medic and strong supporter of the orphanage where she grew up, had been recently attacked in her home by an unknown assailant. While going to meet her at her brother's wedding, Sage witnesses Delaney being forcibly taken onto the elevator. After he saves her, or she saves him (that is up for debate between the two of them), Sage begins his job as protector. However, Delaney has changed since she was the pesky little sister that always hung out with him and her brother. At first he sees her outward appearance, but then gradually begins to fall in love with the caring, strong, determined woman she is on the inside. Delaney, on the other hand, has always loved Sage and finds it diffcult to keep her feelings in check with him being around so often. This was an action filled story with Sage and Delaney fighting each other, themselves, and whoever wanted to see Delaney stopped and or dead. I received this book from The Book Club Network, Inc. and the opinions are my own.

I love a story where the guy realizes that the girl of his dreams has always been standing in front of him. Love the suspense in this story because I think it added spice to the romance and it does not disappoint. Delaney and Sage are great characters and I love seeing them interact with each and seeing their relationship blossom throughout the story.

    more from this reviewer

Sage Michaelson has more problems than he knows what to do with.

Sage Michaelson has more problems than he knows what to do with. First of all, he's attempting to recover from having his spleen removed, and then there is the promise he made to his best friend Steve at his wedding, to watch over his sister, Delaney. As a Deputy U.S. Marshall, its Sage's job to notice the details about people and while he attempts to concentrate on that aspect of his job, his heart has its own priorities. He's trying to keep his feelings in check for Delaney.

Growing up with her in the orphanage has made her feel more like family than anything else, but these strong feelings he has for her now go much deeper than just a family bond. Even though he has grown up thinking of Delaney as a sister, now that the years apart have matured them both on completely different levels. However no matter how hard he tries to keep his feelings separated, he finds himself falling for her. Yet, how can he protect her if he can't protect his heart?

When he discovers that someone is out to harm Delaney, first breaking into her home and threatening her, almost kidnapping her at knife point at her brother's wedding, the threats on her life keep escalating. Now if he can only heal from his own physical injuries long enough to protect her and find the person(s) responsible there may be hope yet for them.

Delaney Hunt has had a childhood crush on Sage forever and now that he is back in Journey, restoring his parents home and possibly considering a permanent move here, Delaney wonders how she can keep her feelings in check. She feels that once he fulfills her brothers request to protect her, that Sage will move away again. She can't possibly let him know how she really feels and then wind up like her mother. She has made a vow to God that she will keep herself pure until the day she marries her husband. One that she is finding harder to keep with Sage being with her all the time. Does God have plans for them other than the ones she has been dreaming of?

In the latest novel, Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers, we are immediately drawn into both a romance novel as well as a suspense story. Sage and Delaney have grown up together and feel more like family than anything else. But time has a way of changing people and for Sage and Delaney, they are no different. With enough time between them, they have both matured and now see one another through different eyes. Sage is still dealing with his past being the only survivor when his family was tragically killed in a car accident. Delaney has her own past to deal with. She is doing everything possible to not wind up like her mother who put drugs as her first priority and being a single mother. Not being able to deal with raising a child on her own, she gave her up for adoption and its where she first met Sage. Can they both work through their difficult pasts to find a real future together?

I received Journey's Embrace by Dora Hiers compliments of the author for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I loved this story. I think it's one we can all relate to on some level. We all have things in our past we are not proud of and it's only through the grace of God that we can move forward into a new future, leaving those mistakes behind us. This is the third book in her Marshall's series with the first being Journey's End and then Journey's Edge. Even though this is part of a series, like me, you can read this one as a stand alone and still appreciate the story. Yet once you've read this one, you'll want to go back and capture the romance that began in Journey one step at a time! I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and it really appealed to the romance/suspense lover in me!
