This is seriously the "Diet Book" I've been waiting for. Mainly because it's not really a diet book. Sure it's chock full of meal plans, amazing (healthy) recipes, guidelines for healthy living, etc. -- but it's also full of inspirational stories of people who REALLY won the battle of the bulge. For once, I'm not ashamed to have a diet book on my bookshelf. In fact, I've been treating this more like a coffee table book. The pictures of the recipes are so pretty. And I love the author's attitude and enthusiasm. Definitely recommended -- even if you don't have any weight to lose.

Here's some Joy for the Weight Loss Journey I feel like I've been living under a rock. I'm thinking I'm one of the few Americans who have never heard of or seen anything about the Joy Fit Club. I'm going to blame it on my work schedule. I never get to see the Today Show. I'm glad I found this book! I am on a 100lb weight loss journey of my own, and in part, that is why I opted to review this book. I chose to e-reader version and now I really wish I had picked up the hard-copy instead. This book is page after page of inspiration. I loved the way the success stories were a mix of different kinds of people: young, old, men, women, and even couples. Here's a list of the other things I really liked about this book: -I'm a visual learner. Seeing the dramatic changes was so inspiring. -I loved that the recipes were the kind that real people can use. You don't need to have a culinary degree to understand them. -The Diet Comparisons between before and after were helpful and gave me lots of ideas. -Telling me what they had in their pantry encouraged me to clean mine out. There was something I could relate to in every story. One person said they had only been overweight since birth. Yeah, me too. Another talked about how her pain was obvious in her appearance. While somebody else 'fessed up to "secret food." These people also didn't just decide to make a change, but took the time to examine what got them into the predicament they found themselves in--and worked their way out. I couldn't wait to get home and tell my husband about the book, show him some of the stories about the men, and point out the recipes (since he is our cook). We're both in this battle and this book gave us some solid ammunition. I liked the way that one of the persons put it, "If it were easy, obesity wouldn't be an issue." That got a big "Amen" from me. This book puts it out there that there is no finish line. The journey is the destination. I highly recommend this book. It's the kind of thing that is good for a kick start and motivator along the way in the face of discouragement. It sure makes me want to be a part of the Joy Club! In compliance with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, NetGalley Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.

This was a excellent inspirational book. As someone who needs to lose quite a bit of weight, it was inspiring to read stories from those who been there. Each "chapter" is a story about an individual who lost a significant amount of weight. There were tips to discuss what they did, what they would encourage others to do and they also included recipes for the reader to try. I'm looking forward trying a few myself! The before and after pictures were an even greater inspirational tool. Reading this book made it click for me and I have successfully began my weight loss journey (without surgery!) I realize it's not eliminating the foods I love to eat, but managing portion sizes and adding healthier options. I received this book via NetGalley for the purpose of review.

I can't believe I wasted $4.99 on this trash. poorly written, with no useful information. If it wasn't so terrible, I would complain about its being so short, but that was the only good part. I couldn't have taken more than 21 pages of this.
