I was "the bride who knew nothing" . . .

And now I love sharing the joy of kosher cooking with people like me: Busy parents who want to make real food for real families in a snap, and people who want to entertain without slaving in the kitchen, knowing their dishes will always elicit oohs and aahs. Our Sabbath and holiday meals are warm, fun, and flowing with food, family, and tons of guests. Do the math: two weekly Shabbos meals + 26 holiday banquets = 130 feasts per year, not to mention feeding my hungry family every other day of the week. That plus a full-time job should qualify me as some kind of expert in fast, fresh family dinners!

Here in Joy of Kosher I share more than 100 of my absolute best recipes and give each a creative twist: Dress It Up—add some bling for your party table—or Dress It Down and lure your picky eaters to meals they'll beg for again and again. That's more than 200 recipes!

A few of my faves:

  • Crystal Clear Chicken Soup with Julienned Vegetables and Angel Hair (Dress It Down: Chicken Noodle Alphabet Soup)
  • Garlic Honey Brisket (Dress It Down: Honey Brisket Pita Pockets)
  • Miso-Glazed Salmon (Dress It Up: Avocado-Stuffed Miso-Glazed Salmon)
  • Butternut Squash Mac 'n' Cheese (Dress It Down: Mac 'n' Cheese Muffin Cups)
  • Gooey Chocolate Cherry Cake (Dress It Up: Red Wine Chocolate Cherry Heart Cake)

And talk about challah! I give you ten yummy variations, including Sun-Dried Tomato, Garlic, and Herb Braided Challah; Blueberry Apple Challah Rolls; Sea-Salted Soft Challah Pretzel Rolls; and Gooey Pecan Challah Sticky Buns. All that, plus gorgeous photos, wine pairings, time-savers, and my guide to sane, no-jitters holiday menus. I hope you love this book as much as I loved writing it for you!

Publishers Weekly

Now on her third cookbook (Quick and Kosher: Meals in Minutes), Geller builds on the notion of making kosher food fun and appetizing, a mission she strives for on her now famous food blog, "Joy of Kosher." For the particulars of this book, Geller has the "core recipes" but then also includes variations so that the dish can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the purpose of the dish and to who it is being served. Some prime examples are the "Roasted Summer Squash Lasagna," which can be made fancier by adding more vegetables in the "Roasted Vegetable Summer Lasagna" version or "Avocado Salad with Butter Lettuce and Lemon Dressing," which can be manipulated into "Mock Crab Salad in Avocados" or have its core ingredients dressed down for those who lack the higher-end components. Of course, it wouldn't be a Kosher cookbook if it didn't inform the reader of what section of cuisine it falls into, dairy, meat, or pareve/neither, and include specialty food for the Jewish Sabbath/holidays like Challah and "Daddy's Deep Dish Potato Kugel." With complimentary wine pairings offered to help complete the meal, this book is perfect for those whose mouths continue to water over kosher cuisine. (Oct.)
Chicago Jewish Star
“[Jamie Geller’s] enthusiasm, her love of food, her desire to provide healthy meals for family and friends…. speak to home cooks at all ages and stages. In a conversational and peppy style, she’s an advocate for kosher, with a perspective that is broadly appealing.”
Jewish Press
What sets it apart from other cookbooks… is that it reads almost like a quasi-memoir/family portrait-within-a-cookbook. Like a dish of soup on winter’s eve, it is warm and inviting.
Jewish Voice
“Jamie Geller’s latest cookbook is part family album, part fun cooking ideas, and part like hearing from an old friend… We feel as though we are part of her family as the adorable photographs of her children, husband and delectable food entice us.”
BusyinBrooklyn.com
[Jamie] shares a lot more than just stellar recipes. She shares of piece of herself. With each chapter, Ms. Geller opens another door to her life and home, drawing you in like you’re part of the family.

If a cookbook has no pictures, I am not really interested in buying it,  I may only borrow it form the library…
This  book has a gorgeous picture for each recipe which I love.  The recipes are fast, simple classic recipes
with an updated modern twist.  A unique feature in this book is that recipes can be dressed down for every day
cooking or dressed up for a fancier dinner, it inspire me to look into my own recipes and dressed them up
for special occasions.  I also enjoyed  the family stories that give a little insight into the author's life which
    makes the book "REAL".

I absolutely adore this cookbook! The recipes are mouthwatering and actually not difficult to make, and the book as a whole is such a joy to behold. From the warm, sunny, natural pictures of the author's kids to the drool-worthy pictures of the dishes to the funny, engaging stories in every section, just try to read this without smiling. It's impossible. It's more than a cookbook, it's a mood lifter.

This book is a God-send for all of us who feel overwhelmed by the demanda of Work and motherhood. Where did all my time go? I used to experiment with elaborate and exotic recipes from the Food network, but now it's a miracle if I get dinner on the table at all without resorting to takeout or The Dreaded Frozen Entree. What I need is a happy medium, but I can count my simple, fast meal ideas on one hand. Enter Jamie Geller: none of the recipe in her book require brushing up on French techniques, but all are way more interesting that anything I was coming up with on my own? And I almost forgot to stress: practically foolproof.
