FROM FAST FRIENDS TO FAST GIRLS…

For shy, awkward Stella Gold, the only good thing to come out of junior high gym class was her friendship with Emily Martin, the effortlessly cool rebel. Emily is now a trendy New York fashion designer with a penchant for affairs with all kinds of inappropriate men. Stella, a schoolteacher, has never strayed far from her provincial Pennsylvania hometown. Yet these two, now in their twenties, have shared everything, from bonding over the mystery of tampons and Milli Vanilli T-shirts to swapping stories about first loves and one-night stands. But there's one secret Stella has never told her best friend….

When Emily calls from London with startling news, Stella is faced with a choice. She must either confront a long-buried demon or let Emily make a giant mistake that just might end their friendship for good.

It was shocking at times and exciting at others. I couldn't put it down. I would read it again and again!

A minor, if expected, diseaster brings together two friends in junior high gym class. After saving Stella from embarrassment, Emily becomes her life long best friend, seeing her through the labyrinth of dating with unconventional wit and wisdom and a due amount of sarcasm. Along the way come assorted heartaches; death, divorce, sour relationships, and betrayals. Even when an ocean and something bordering on treachery stand between them, Stella and Emily remain true sisters of the heart, working their way towards a good ending. For fans of the series Sisters or the movies Beaches or Steel Magnolias, this will be a read that is highly likely to be something enjoyable. The main flaw in the execution lies with the seesawing between past and present. Joy is in the ears that hear..or the eyes that see

Although the title and cover offer a light and breezy book, the story offers a warmth and depth rarely seen in chic-lit. 'Riding' through life with Stella and Emily allows you to examine what can make and what can break relationships. Rech's style elevates the genre!
