Chapter two, "A Spanish Beginning," explains Ponce de Leon life in Spain, including how he heard about Columbus's discovery of the New World and joined his second voyage. Chapter three, "The New World," describes Ponce de Leon's life on the island of Espanola as a soldier fighting the native people.
