Overview

According to the Sages, Judaism is a way of life that elevates the person and the world around her or him. Yet what does it mean to be Jewish?

This book answers that question. It presents Jewish thought and practice in a way that empowers the reader to know what to do, how we do it and why we do it according to Jewish mystical tradition.

Judaism from Above the Clouds is not a book to be studied. Rather it is meant, like Judaism itself, to be explored and experienced. You are encouraged to start anywhere you feel comfortable and move at your own pace; for, ultimately, Judaism is a path which involves spiritual growth within this material world.

At the same time, Judaism is a process that involves making the world, and everyone in it, aware of the Creator of all existence.

If you have ever wondered about Judaism and what it means to be a Jew, Judaism from Above the Clouds is for you.

Editorial Reviews

David Sears
Judaism from Above the Clouds is tailor-made for people who are interested in Judaism and want to know the lay of the land. It is the ideal stepping stone for those who want to go further.
Michael Moritz
Judaism from Above the Clouds provides a comprehensive overview of all aspects of Judaism. It is impressive that a topic so vast could be covered so thoroughly in such a concise manner. No longer must any Jew be intimidated by Torah-true Judaism. Instead, in a short period of time, he can be empowered to delve into greater observance. This is a great reference book to begin an exploration into all areas of Judaism.
Eric Lidji
The biggest challenge for any introductory text to Judaism is answering “why” not “what.” The infinite rituals and laws of Judaism are familiar to any student of religion, but those observances threaten to become irrelevant without some explanation. In Judaism from Above the Clouds, Leibel Estrin grounds virtually every ritual observance in the wealth of Chassidic philosophy that explains why each tradition is important and how they all fit together.
