Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Judy has just received a lot of bad news—her two best friends are going away for the summer, and so are her parents. The Moody children will be taken care of by Aunt Opal. Can it get any worse? Her brother Stink has his owns plans for the summer; he is part of a group looking for Bigfoot. It turns out Aunt Opal is quite a character, and she has some great ideas for summer fun. The kids also get to eat a lot of strange foods. While Judy and Aunt Opal are working on craft projects, Stink disguises himself as a bush and hunts for Bigfoot scat. Unfortunately, several not-so-nice things happen, like Judy's hand being glued to the table and poop ending up on their picnic sandwiches at the Creep ?n' Crawl at the cemetery. In addition, it turns out that Opal has not driven in a decade and their car trip is a real "trip." All ends well, and after the summer adventures Judy really doesn't want Aunt Opal to leave. The book is based on the motion picture Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer, which is in turn based on the Judy Moody series. The illustrations are stills from the movie. This book is aimed at those who enjoyed the movie and might want to relive part of the experience in a book. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
