Publishers Weekly
Also designed to scare away the boredom blahs, Judy Moody's Double-Rare Way-Not-Boring Book of Fun Stuff to Do by Megan McDonald, illus. by Peter H. Reynolds, boasts knock-knock jokes, a slang dictionary and a "who's who in the Judy Moody world," among many other tips to pick up a dreary day. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Ellen Welty
A book of for real and absolute positive no fail fun and games from everyone's favorite third grader is bound to be a hit with the younger set. Readers will enjoy the puzzles and quizzes that test their knowledge of Judy and friends and will delight in creating their own jokes and puzzles with help from the book. Judy's characteristic wit and charm are evident in the activities that the book describes and the line drawings capture her feisty outlook. Some of the ideas have been around for a while (cootie catchers) and some are as timely as the news (a group of activities called "Save the World"). Teachers could incorporate some of the activities in their classes and parents could pack the book to entertain a fidgety youngster while traveling. There are answers to the quizzes and puzzles in the back of the book. The book encourages removing some of the pages of activities and writing on other pages, so it may not be a good choice for libraries but it is a winner for individual purchase.
