Julia Childs was a fascinating and humorous and interesting character but this book is so slow moving and monotonous it is hard to stay awake through most of it.
How could a Newsweek writer make lively Julia such tedious reading to wade through -- more work than reading the other known 600 page academic biography on Julia? Except for a quote here and there, it was dull as an unwashed old kitchen spoon
The author does her homework knows how to put words together. You'll know Julia a lot better after reading this book.
My wife found this book amusing and engaging and she enjoyed the story and the writing.
