"Julian, his younger brother, and their friend Gloria read the wanted posters in the post office and decide to search their town for criminals. The plot is well-developed, and the characters are aptly drawn. A quick and interesting read—and one that will surely draw in less-able readers."—School Library Journal.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jean Boreen
From a series of books focused on Julian, this easy-read book targets Julian, his brother, Huey, and their friend Gloria as they decide to become secret agents. Inspired by wanted pictures at the post office, the children begin looking around town for the various criminals they've just been "introduced" to. Along the way, they rescue a dog and save a little boy who has decided to play in a public fountain. But the real excitement occurs when they wander into Kingman's Cafe and think that they have found Eugene Johnson, one of the faces from the wanted posters, known for taking on a variety of names and personalities. Sharing their hunch with the chief of police, the children are instructed to go back to Kingman's and ask probing questions of "Eugene" to help the chief find out if he is, indeed, the man on the wanted poster. Younger readers will get a kick out of the situations in which Julian and his friends find themselves.
