Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Monserrat Urena
This attractive book presents a condensed yet detailed account of the life and times of Julius Caesar. Divided into ten primary sections, the book focuses on different facets of the famed Roman leader's life. Nardo covers Caesar's conquest of Gaul and his political alliances. The book is filled with numerous and colorful pictures and drawings that add to the feel of the text and make it come to life. The careful explanations effectively break down the complexities of the politics of the time period. The book also contains a timeline and a section with additional sources for further research. This is a good book to have in a home or classroom setting, as it is a strong starting point for study or a class project about Rome or Julius Caesar. It would also be a good gift for any youth who likes history or has been a fan of historical fiction. I recommend this book both for its content and its manner of presenting it.
