Jump Jack Jump!

All Music Guide - Ron Wynn
This 24-track set covers Carr's R&B tunes, with many unissued but fine selections such as "If These Walls Could Speak," "Finders Keepers," and "Weather Man" finally getting out of the vault. The CD also includes her trademark upbeat, sassy songs, "Jump Jack Jump," "Boppity Bop Boogity Boop," "Ding Dong Daddy," and "Nursery Rhyme Rock." Thematic variety wasn't her label's strong suit when it came to material, and they might have done better with more numbers like "Please Mr. Jailer" and "It's Raining Outside," and a few less boogies and jump pieces.

    Genius Unnoticed

The fact that Wynona Carr did not become a superstar boggles the mind. Her vocals alone will blow you away...they are so raw, so intense and still technically perfect. Add to that the fact that she wrote most of the good tunes on this album and you have yourself the proof that Wynona Carr truly was a genius that never got the recognition she deserved. Not every tune on this album is brilliant but most are great and the best ones are mind-blowing! This is jump-blues/r&b at it's best...you simply cannot go wrong with this cd. If you are a gospel fan as well, you simply MUST have her album "Dragnet for Jesus". 5 stars
