Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
For Junie B., this year's Easter Egg Hunt at Lucille house holds extra allure. She's learned that winner of the egg fest wins a play date in Lucille's cool beyond cool heated indoor swimming pool. Before the race has even begun, though, Junie's ambitions trip over her own big rabbit feet: She's obliged to attend the event wearing an outlandish -- and incredibly awkward -- dumb bunny outfit. Sometimes the entire universe seems pitted against the world's unluckiest six-year-old! An endearing story about a truly sympathetic little girl.
Children's Literature
What goes around comes around is the underlying theme of the 27th book in the series of adventures of the kids in Room One, Mr. Scary's class. Junie B. calls May a "dumb bunny" and is reprimanded severely. Not long after, Lucille (a.k.a. the rich kid) invites the whole class to her mansion for an Easter egg hunt. The winner will get a chance to play with Lucille all day and bask in her new indoor pool, but when the day of the hunt comes, the Easter Bunny doesn't show up and so Plan B goes into effect: the kid who picks a purple jellybean gets the "thrill of a lifetime" which turns out to be the chance to be the alternate Easter Bunny. Guess who wins? Of course, Junie B. doesn't do so well at hunting Easter eggs, hampered as she is by her gigantic bunny feet. Exhibiting a new altruistic streak, Junie B. decides she can at least thwart May's efforts to win the play date by helping Sheldon Potts (who is wearing his lucky shirt with some breakfast still on it, "may the egg be with you") find the coveted golden egg. As a result, May, the tattletale, pegs Junie B. as the dumbest of dumb bunnies. In the end, Junie is glad she helped Sheldon, May represses her tattling, and Lucille is thrilled with how everything turns out for her. Like all the Junie B. books, this one is sprinkled with funny moments for readers of all ages.

    Junie B. Jones The Great!!

Junie B. Jones is a first grader trying to discover the world and learn about it. She really doesn't know her way around. The characters in the book are her guides that think she is a bit off on her lines.

    Funny!!!

My daughter LOVES the Junie B Jones series and this book was no disappointment. We read it together and both laughed. We started it and couldn't put it down, read the entire book. My daughter has many books in this series but this is one of her favorites.
Things don't usually go the way Junie would like but it all works out eventually. I like that these books end on a happy, positive note.
My daughter's second grade teacher uses the series in her classroom. Since they are amusing, it motivates the students to read. 7 to 9 year olds will love this series.

    Love Junie B. Jones

We love the Junie B. Jones books especially the holiday editions! :) Junie B. is full of spunk and we enjoy hearing about all her adventures! We love seeing how she responds to the world around her. Before we read a book we are always curious what her viewpoint is on a certian situation. She is very fun to read!!
