Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
We all love Miss Junie B. Jones, the wonderfully outrageous and infinitely amusing six-year-old created by author Barbara Park.

In Junie B. Jones Is a Graduation Girl, our little moppet is set to graduate from kindergarten into the mysterious first grade, where she wonders if she'll see her friends, her school, or her principal again. Then she receives her starched white graduation gown -- a garment simply made for twirling about and dancing -- and all such worries go out of her head. In spite of her teacher's warning not to touch the caps and gowns until graduation day, Junie can't resist trying them on for everyone: Mom, Grandpa, even her stuffed animal friends. Before she knows it, there's purple grape juice on her gown. (As Junie puts it, "Grape juice can go wrong.") Devastated, she hides the evidence until the big day, when she dresses at school. When her purple stains are discovered, she bursts into tears -- but in a commendable act of kindness and friendship, her classmates dot their gowns with colored markers so Junie will not stand out.

Barbara Park has created a one-of-a-kind character with Junie B. Jones. With each book in this delightful series, we are invited to enter the mind of a hilarious, quick-witted, and buoyant work of wonder. (Amy Barkat)

Children's Literature
Delightful—this new edition to the "Junie B. Jones" series is simply delightful. It is a great read for both young and old. In this book, Junie B. is graduating from kindergarten, and with all of her quirks and penchant for trouble, she stirs up a hilarious story. This is a great book for those young readers who, like Junie B, are afraid of moving on to first grade or for those just beginning school and want to learn more about the mysterious world of kindergarten. Learn along with Junie B. as she discovers what a cap and gown are and what a diploma is. Then, laugh along with her as she attempts to keep her white cap and gown from getting dirty, which she soon discovers is an impossible feat, especially when there is grape juice around. This Junie B. book, as well as the other books in the series, is sure to entertain. 2001, Random House, $11.99 and $3.99. Ages 4 to 7. Reviewer: Sheree Van Vreede

    LOVED IT

I loved this the book. My favorite part was when Junie B. Jones spills some grape jucie dripplets on her graduation gown. And when she goes to school like that she has pretty much every one in room nine put purple polka dots on their graduation gown.

Awful little kids learn to be nasty

This book is awful and little kids learn 2 be nasty from Junie's "humorous" way of language. I would NOT recommend this book to children 7&under. Doesnt ever deserve 1 star.

    adorable

this adorbale series adds the first book, where the whole class comes together to show that in the end they are a team and that they care about each other. Can't wait to read with my daughter Junie's 1st grade adventures.
