The soundtrack to this offbeat coming-of-age comedy features a mix of classic rock and indie-pop that's sure to appeal to fans of Rushmore and other quirky collections.
All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Music plays a key part in Juno, the way-too-charming indie comedy directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Juno, the pregnant teen of the title role, isn't just a kid who loves rock & roll; she and her boyfriend Paulie Bleeker play guitars together, the adoptive father of Juno's kid is a recovering grunge rocker who toured the world and elsewhere in 1993, and Reitman punctuates the film with songs, both classic rock and ...

Music plays a key part in Juno, the way-too-charming indie comedy directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Juno, the pregnant teen of the title role, isn't just a kid who loves rock & roll; she and her boyfriend Paulie Bleeker play guitars together, the adoptive father of Juno's kid is a recovering grunge rocker who toured the world and elsewhere in 1993, and Reitman punctuates the film with songs, both classic rock and precious twee folk tunes from Kimya Dawson, formerly of the Moldy Peaches. Some might say that the sickly sweet songs of Dawson don't fit comfortably alongside the Kinks, Mott the Hoople, and Sonic Youth's cover of the Carpenters' "Superstar," but a large part of the appeal of Juno is how the world-weary sarcasm of Gen-X rubs against the unapologetic quirkiness of Gen-Y, and the soundtrack reflects that almost more than the movie, as the Dawson songs are even more prominent on this 19-track album than within the 90-minute movie. This may not be to everybody's taste -- many found the twee tunes irritating, not charming -- but anybody who loved the movie completely will find the Juno soundtrack just as witty and warm as the film itself.

    Great for All Ages!

I think this music can appeal to all generations. I am a 55-yr-old mom, with 10- and 16-yr-old daughters, and this is one of our favorite CDs. It has been in rotation in my car for about 6 months now: we probably listen to it about twice a week and still haven't gotten tired of it. We know most of the words by now, so singing along is fun and brings us together the way music is meant to do. I appreciate that there is a variety of styles and ages of the songs. The kids are amazed that Well-Respected Man was a hit from my own youth - LOL! Highly recommended for folks who like an eclectic collection of singable songs.

    Its up to YOU

I personally loved this soundtrack! I am not a 14 year-old girl, but I think that's alright =] The thing about it is that the music is very organic and orginal...most people in the mainstream media wouldn't love this music because its so different. The movie was the same way. For some people its either hit or miss, but its all a matter of opinion anyways.

    A reviewer

Wow. I find it amazing that Jamaal was able to target this album exclusively for 14-year-old females and 12-year-old males. I want to listen to it right now, but as an 18-year-old male, I am in fear that Jamaal might alert the music authorities. This soundtrack is great. It's not like most soundtracks that form a tracklisting of singles and MTV hits. It broadens the musical horizons of some. Just because one fan of The Moldy Peaches is disgruntled that their "worst" song made it to a big time OST. I highly recommend this.

worst most annoying soundrack in print

i really liked the moldy peaches. now i cant stand them because every 14 year old girl is singing the one terrible song they had thats basically the theme song for this movie. this cd irritates me more then celine dion. the only people that would like this soundtrack are 14 year old girls and 12 year old boys. the movie was way to overated also. it wasnt good at all actually.

Very good and though the quality might sound funky it's very good for the songs on the soundtrack and extremely fitting for the movie. A good cd for those who like folk music with an indie spin.

Cute Soundtrack for a Cute Movie

This is one of the best movies I have seen in awhile and the soundtrack is AH-MAZ-ING. All the music is great I couldn't help but smile in the movie theater listening to some of the songs. Anyone Else But You is now my favorite song. I LOVE IT!!! A MUST BUY!!

    Golly!!!!

Wow! The minute I saw this AWESOME movie I went to get the soundtrack as soon as I left my seat. I would recomment this to anyone! No matter the age, apperance, style, or taste. It may seem like and odd choice of music, it has a very indie feel, but nonetheless, it's awesome! I feel it can change anyones opinion of music and the happiness it can bring! side note-my engaged best friend is using the last track as their first dance.

    Upbeat

I absolutely loved this soundtrack. A friend and I tapped our fingers and feet throughtout the whole movie. Very upbeat and "feel good" type of music. It will put you in a good mood when you're feeling down.

    AMAZING!

It was the perfect soundtrack for the movie... Innocent, but stained and tainted simultaneously. "You're a part time lover and full time friend"
