Overview

In this sizzling novel of Renita Pizzitola’s Crush series, Felicity knows that “Summer Boys” are only good for one thing. But what if hooking up with the right guy could lead to a fresh start?

Like most of the residents of her dead-end beach town, Felicity Daniels doesn’t know what she wants from her future. Instead of college, she’s waiting tables at the local grille where she’s more likely to run into the guy who was the love of her life—until one decision changed everything. Now as this year’s tourist season kicks in to high gear, Felicity realizes that whatever she wants isn't going to be found here.

Mason Hayes is the quintessential Summer Boy: hot, impulsive, and born without strings attached. While in town helping with the family fishing charter, he plans to have a little fun—and hopefully get over a certain girl. He’s never had a long-term relationship, but when he meets Felicity, he wonders if he’s found the girl who could change that.

With her heart still in repair, Felicity’s happy to have a distraction like Mason, but her best friend thinks he could also be her ticket out of this town. What’s the harm in using him to escape more than just her boredom? After all, he is just a Summer Boy, and they never stick around. But after one kiss, Felicity wonders if only one summer with Mason will ever really be enough.

Young love and turmoil reign in Pizzitola’s flimsy third Crush contemporary (after Just a Little Flirt). Felicity is 19 and mature for her age, living on her grandfather’s houseboat and working as a waitress in her tiny hometown of Port Lucia, on an unspecified American coast. Her hobbies include spending time with friends, avoiding her ex, taking photos, and keeping her eyes on all of the “Summer Boys” who invade the town each year. Mason is helping with his uncle’s charter fishing company during his summer off from college, and he expects to pass the time with a local girl or three, but nothing prepared him for the passionate, sparkling Felicity—his cousin’s best friend. In the tradition of new adults everywhere, Felicity and Mason stumble through their new relationship as it transitions from a summer sweetness to autumnal angst. Occasional respites from the shallow clichés can be found in the charming secondary relationships and beautifully detailed setting. Agent: Suzie Townsend, New Leaf Literary and Media Inc. (Aug.)

I’ve been following this series from the beginning, and Renita Pizzitola has managed to create engaging and honest characters that readers will recognize and want to know. In the third book, Just a Little Kiss, we have Mason’s story. We first met Mason back in Just a Little Crush, he had his own crush on the heroine Brinley, but realized soon on that it was one-sided, and the two became fast friends. Fortunately, his sense was rewarded, and we get to see his story here. Mason is a stand-up guy: in touch with his feelings and aware that he can find a love of his own. A summer job offer with a fishing boat service brings him into a new environment, and he’s finding himself ready for a summer fling. Felicity is a local girl, a waitress at the diner, and one with a passion for her ‘summer boys’. She’s not interested in long term, and the influx of summer only workers fits her plan perfectly: no muss, no fuss. But then she meets Mason – and he’s more than just a summer boy….. These two have the chemistry, and despite the rather mature attitude they both project about relationships, they are young and make some mistakes that perfectly fit their actual ages: neither one is perfect or without issues, but they do manage to finally get it together and actually discuss their issues, rather than flounce off in a snit. Both characters grew and learned from their drama, and while it may seem that I am downplaying angst and drama, these two really don’t have an overabundance of either. Pizzitola wrote these characters with care and deliberation, and both they and their relationship grew in ways that felt plausible and natural. A wonderful installment, and leaves the door open for more, should other characters get a chance to have their moments. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

3.5 Stars Felicity Daniels wants out of her dead-end beach town but does not see a way out. Between the memories of all the things that have gone wrong and the desire for more than what she currently had, she feels trapped. Even love had dealt her a bad hand so she's okay with a quick fling with the young men who are in town for the summer and will be gone as soon as the weather changes. This is quite the perfect plan for her until Mason Hayes arrives. Mason is taking a break from everything, hoping that the summer away helping on his uncle's fishing boat and hanging out with his cousins would help him get over the girl that got away. When he meets Felicity, his plans for the summer get even more appealing and even with her reservations, he's determined to show her how good things can be between them. Very quickly, things get very serious between them, over and above the easy fling they were hoping for but their relationship is fraught with drama as Felicity's insecurities and fear take over and Mason has to work hard to convince her that things don't have to end with the end of the season. Even the chance to leave and pursue her dreams comes with its own drama as misunderstandings and a lack of communication threaten to ruin their relationship. I really enjoyed Just a Little Flirt and really looked forward to read this next installment in the series. Just a Little Kiss was actually very enjoyable, at least until the drama and angst that seem to be an intrinsic part of this genre and which gets old very easily, took over. Felicity was fun and feisty at the beginning, until she let her worries take over. Mason spends a lot of time reassuring Felicity and trying to ease her concerns and even though all of the constant anxiety makes some sense at the end, I was so over it. Beyond this, Mason was a real cutie, an alpha male in the making. He wanted Felicity and went about finding ways to break down her defenses and he was always quick to show her that she was worth loving. Even though he messed up a bit towards the end, he very quickly fixed things between them. I like that in the end, we got a mature Mason and Felicity who had learned from their mistakes and were determined to make things work. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Felicity Daniels is in a dead-end life: dead-end town, dead-end job, dead-end short term summer relationships. She wants more but doesn't know how to get it. Then she spots Mason, potential new Summer boy. Only, right from the beginning, she can tell that Mason is SO much more than a Summer boy. Mason's done the repetitive college hookups and after deciding to escape his bruised heart, he decides to work at his uncle's fishing service for the Summer for a change. As soon as he sees Felicity, there's something about her that pulls him to her. If only he can convince her trust in them. This is the third book I've ready by this author and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. The more books of hers I read, the more engrossed I become. It's kind of rare for me to become very emotionally vested in books, but I was totally there with this book. I was yelling at Mason at one point and broken-hearted over Felicity and everything she goes through, even though some of it was self-imposed. I really enjoyed this book and I'm really enjoying this author. I can't wait to read more from her.

4 Sweet Stars Felicity is stuck in her little fishing town and dealing with the hangover of a relationship that went bad. Thinking she was doing what was best for the one she loved, mistakes happened and lives were forever changed. Dealing with that guilt she only allows herself the pleasure of her summer boys, those who come to town but will be going. No commitments or lives to ruin. Mason needed to get away from the front row seats he had to Brinley and Ryder's love story. We met Mason in the first book in this series by Pizzitola and I was so glad he was going to get his story. Initially thinking he was up for a little fun this summer he is looking forward to getting to know Felicity more, if he can get that idea passed his cousin who seems a little too protective of Felicity. Before long, the attraction between the two is something neither can overlook and despite reservations on Felicity's part the two start spending all their time together. Along the way there are two really big misunderstandings which threaten to sink this relationship before it really gets going. I have to give mad props to Pizzitola for creating a pit in the stomach type feeling with the first misunderstanding. My heart felt like it was breaking and I really didn't see how this was gonna be fixed. Let me tell you, I never saw it coming and I loved how everything works itself out. I really loved Mason as a hero and Felicity is good enough as a heroine but I didn't love her. Now her best friend Isla is someone I think I could really like and I hope her and Colby get a book. Overall, like the other books in this series this is a sweet read which was totally enjoyable. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Just a Little Kiss is a outstanding addition to the Crush series. Felicity Daniels lives on a houseboat at the beach, and is struggling to figure out her future. She is working at the local diner, avoiding her ex, and looking for a summer hookup. Mason Hayes, has moved to town to help with his family charter fishing operation and to get over his feelings for his best friend. (They were both featured in Just a Little Flirt). They are neighbors and they gradually find happiness while helping each other out. When Mason introduces Felicity to his aunt, a photographer and helps her find a life outside her comfort zone. Will they be able to find a future together or will life pull them apart? I love this series because it is well written, fast paced, a full of realistic characters with authentic challenges. Her books continue to be the cream of the crop in the New Adult genre. I was given a free copy for an honest review by netgalley.com

It’s Mason’s book! Mason thought he was in love with Brinley, thinking that his heart was broken, he went to work for his uncle and cousins in the family fishing charter for the summer. He wants to have some fun, and perhaps found someone to med his broken heart. You can’t help but love Mason, I adored him ever since, and I was glad that he was finally going to have his happy ending. I admire his patience and tenacity to stand by Felicity. Because being with this girl was a piece of work, a really piece of work (but proved to be worth it). But his patience has also some limits, and when it did – ah, it was something else. Something I never thought he was capable of. Heartbreak caused Felicity to build some walls around her heart to protect it. From then on, she just placed some silly rules that only summer boys are allowed in her life. They’re predictable, and there was no way she was going to fall in love with someone in a short amount of time. Her rules kept her life stable. At first, I thought Felicity was not good for Mason. I mean, all she wants was her summer fling. She was a lost soul who didn’t know what to do with her life. She didn’t want any help from anyone around her – and that was the most frustrating thing of all. Nevertheless our heroine does have some redeeming qualities. The chemistry was obviously there – it was off the charts. The sexual tension was just overwhelming as much as the emotions that were all over the page, how can they be together with that kind of stubbornness? Well, if Felicity is a runner, Mason knows how to chase someone relentlessly. It took a lot of running, road bumps and twists and turns, but it ended up pretty well. This is the third book in the series that just got hotter and better, with a lot of feels. Good thing they can be read as stand alone, with relatable characters that will surely win your hearts.

I fell in love with the Crush Series with Just a Little Crush reading Brinley and Ryder's story. Then came Just a Little Flirt and we read about Fallon and Cade. But, we couldn't forget about Mason from reading Brinley's story. After all, he deserved a HEA too, right? So here we are, on a boat with Mason and his hot new neighbor Felicity. Two people running from life yet still trying to find that one person for their own happily ever after. But cautiously. When they finally give in to each other, things are great. Until they're not. So, what is it they're truly looking for? Each other? A summer fling? I loved this series! But, I think I already said that! This series is a fun, cute, quick read that I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed! *I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

Loved Mason's story and I'm so glad he finally got is HEA! This entire series is great and Mason's story won't disappoint. Spending the summer helping his family on their fishing boat, Mason just wants to relax and get over losing the girl of his dreams. What he finds is that what he thought was his dream girl really wasn't because here, in this small fishing town he finds the one. Now to convince her to really give them a chance. Felicity Daniels has had her heart broken. Working at the diner in her small home town probably isn't going to help her get over Brody but she seems to be stuck. No idea what to do with her future she's just biding her time. A fun summer fling with Mason seems like a fine idea. That is until the fling starts turning into more. Can she risk her heart again?? This is a great story with characters that are real and dealing with everyday issues. Working to find their way and learning to trust each other is hard but if they can overcome those issues the future looks bright! This is one I definitely recommend.

Felicity and Mason meet through his cousin, who is one of her best friends. Even thought he is warned to stay away, his feelings are too strong and he pursues her anyway. Or is it she is pursuing him? Mason is instantly attracted and tries to come up with a away around his cousin's warning to stay away from her. Felicity does not know about the warning and approaches him on her own. Mason takes that as a green light and it all begins. Felicity is not sure where her future leads to. She only knows she needs to get out of this dead beat beach town. Only without more resources and education - she does not know where to go or what to do. She does however see a hot summer boy just waiting to be kissed... Mason comes to town to help his injured uncle. He has to be back to college in the fall, but for now there are women and exploring to do. He sees his neighbor and falls so fast! Truly an inspiring story! The relationship of these characters touches and amuses while giving you a real romance. I enjoyed turning each page. ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.
