Not strictly a Shirley Caesar album, Just a Word nevertheless is a good showcase of mid-'90s contemporary gospel music. Recorded on the final day of the Outreach Convention, Just A Word features four songs with Caesar's lead vocals and a host of other gospel vocalists and musicians, singing both standards and new gospel songs. The performances are energetic and invigorating, demonstrating that traditional gospel is nearly always best heard in a live setting. Makes you wish you were there... ~ Leo Stanley
