Editorial Reviews

This paperback original is the hinge volume of Lori Wick's fictional trilogy set in early-19th-century New England. Reese Thackery is finally freed of her indenture, but her newfound life has not healed her insecurity and emotional hurt.
From the Publisher

"This sweet love story of an indentured servant and a wealthy bank owner is brought to life by the incredible Barbara Rosenblat. She transforms Lori Wick's novel into a wonderful listening experience with her expert ability to perform the parts of numerous characters. One cannot help but be enthralled with the story of 23-year-old Reese Thackery and the hardships she learns to overcome in 1839 in Tucker Mills, Massachusetts. The story of faith and love in the midst of trials produces an unforgettable story. Wick's creativity in weaving together a plot that includes mystery and romance, plus Rosenblat's flair for dramatic interpretation, makes this a truly worthwhile audiobook."

What a breath of fresh air! (Read 'Moonlight on the Millpond' first of course)I loved both of these books! They are such a good break from the cheesey romance novels that leave nothing to the imagination. It is so nice to read a book that touches on Christianity too. I read this book in one day, it was so good I couldn't put it down.

I cannot believe how well Lori Wick touches my heart. This book is so sentimental that it made me cry. And I'm only 13!!! I only hope someday a guy like Conner Kingsley will come into my life. And I love how Lori makes God what the series is all about, you may not be able to tell God is the main character but just try to read between the lines. In fact, my mom is going to get Lori Wick's 'The Princess' for me right now!!!

Lori Wick will never disappoint you. I am a huge Wick fan and this book is great. Always a captivating love story that you will laugh and cry with. This book is great but make sure you read the whole series. I own all of her books and re-read them all every year. Just above a whisper is one of my favorites. A must read.

This book is a must read. I could not put it down. There were times where it made me cry. It was very good, almost believable (not as sappy as some). Read it!

Lori Wick is still a terrific author. Wick is quickly joining the ranks of other awesome writers like Dee Henderson and Terri Blackstock. I can't wait for her next edition to an already magnificent collection.
