Overview

Ever Harding, an average teenager with a passion for swimming is about to turn eighteen. Out of the blue she has been dumped by her long time boyfriend, which is the ultimate of tragedies in her life. Little does she know that on that fated eighteenth birthday, she will have to make a choice that will change her life as she knows it, forever.
A month before her birthday, Ever meets Jack, a mysterious new boy with mesmerizing eyes. He affects her like no one else. This meeting sets things into a whirlwind she never would have dreamed. With Jack's guidance she discovers a family line that leads her to the sea. She must make the ultimate choice, stay on land where life as she knows it, won't change, or go and live in the sea as a mermaid with Jack. Her grandmother with ties to the sea of her own, as well as her brooding, moody, teenage brother create obstacles in her decision making process.
Ultimately her choice sets into motion an even bigger decision, in which she has the fate of a race of people, in her hands. The people in the sea are in a feud, she will tip the balance. She must battle the ageless moral delimma of prejudice and race. Once she comes to terms with her life changing choices, she must ask herself, did I make the right decisions? And is Jack really who I think he is?

I adore this author for writing this trilogy!! It is a great love story and I promise you, if you stick with this series you will no be disappointed with the ending. There are a few grammar mistakes in here but if you're not too OCD about it then you won't really notice them. This is a supernatural love story, but not the typical vampire/werewolf stuff you might expect. There is magic that comes along with the powers. Ever's struggle to decide where she will decide to go is basically what this whole book is about and in the next book there are some very interesting developments in the plot and the story goes much deeper into the whole legend and mystery than this book will-so hang in there. ;D Overall, good book, great series, so read it! This book is free anyway so if you absolutely hate this book you can hide it away somewhere or just get rid of it. Happy reading!

Wow. The writing in this book was horrible, the main character was weak, and I'm pretty sure it could of been condensed to about 100 pages. Save yourself some time, and move on.

The author needs a better editor or at least pay better attention to her punctuation and grammer rules, but other than that it's a pretty good story

This book was great. I really enjoyed Ever and Jack, and the ending literally took my breath away. It was the perfect combination of love, adventure, sadness, and findimg out who you really are. I applaud you Heather Allen! This (her first published novel) is a wonderful ebook. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors but nothing too serious. I can't wait to read the next book!

This book has any interesting plot and an unexpected twist makes it a great read. Although it’s hard to believe that two children can disappear for days at a time as the two in the story did and the parents don’t question their disappearances. Over all, it’s a good story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I believe that this is an okay story but it is taking me forever to finish it. To the point where i don't want to even worry about finishing it. I feel like the story drags on forever.

I like a fantasy now and then, enough to keep me reading this book. But it was a punch in the gut the way it just stops! I read trilogies all the time, but have never read one that leaves you hanging like this. The chances of me searching out the rest of the story is nil to none.

** small spoiler on the 'characters' part of the review** The author had a good idead going on with the whole mermaids thing. I've only read one other book series with mermaids and it was 'Of Poseidon' ( which was an okay book that i'd give 3.5 stars. But compared to this book, Of Poseidon seemed like a masterpiece). The author seemed to lack a strong writing style, character descriptions, and plot. Not to mention there was a lack of emotion, that is a must for a book to really speak to you. That was just what was wrong with the book overall, there are still characters that need to be discussed. * Jack- was a very dull character. He's suppost to love her Ever, but I don't see or feel those emotions. And without proper emotion and character action, Jack seems pretty fake. I like the eye idea, I haven't read many books that have used this idea. I just don't like how its incorporated into this story. Its like every 4th word out of Ever's mouth caused Jack's eyes to turn green and every 7th word causes them to go back to a radiant blue. Like what's up with that?? * Ever- she had the potential to be a great character. But everything about her seemed really artificial. Her decision ma,ing process is what really annoyed me. She chose to go to the sea even though they told her that that would ruin her younger brother and kill James, and she still chose it. Like some family love she has. I just didn't like any of her choices and how she reacted in situations. * Gran Ma- I don't think that'd how it is spelled, sorry about that. She was suppost to help and explain things to Ever and when she arrived, she did just that. But there are things that Ever wanted guidance in later on, before maki.g the big choice, amd guess what?? The gran ma was really immature and opposed to telling anything else. Like what's that? Some help she was. Utimetly this book was not the worst book I've read but it was pretty far from the top. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who takes their books seriously.

Writing was very juvenile and conversations between characters seemed forced and fake. No chemistry in the love connection. Storyline could have been great with better writing. Would not recommend to anyone over age 12.
