Overview

Ever Harding, an average teenager with a passion for swimming is about to turn eighteen. Out of the blue she has been dumped by her long time boyfriend, which is the ultimate of tragedies in her life. Little does she know that on that fated eighteenth birthday, she will have to make a choice that will change her life as she knows it, forever.
A month before her birthday, Ever meets Jack, a mysterious new boy with mesmerizing eyes. He affects her like no one else. This meeting sets things into a whirlwind she never would have dreamed. With Jack's guidance she discovers a family line that leads her to the sea. She must make the ultimate choice, stay on land where life as she knows it, won't change, or go and live in the sea as a mermaid with Jack. Her grandmother with ties to the sea of her own, as well as her brooding, moody, teenage brother create obstacles in her decision making process.
Ultimately her choice sets into motion an even bigger decision, in which she has the fate of a race of people, in her hands. The people in the sea are in a feud, she will tip the balance. She must battle the ageless moral delimma of prejudice and race. Once she comes to terms with her life changing choices, she must ask herself, did I make the right decisions? And is Jack really who I think he is?

    great story...

Ever has just been dumped. So the year her and Michael were to rule the school has been squashed the minute he says he wants a break. How could she know, in the midst of her depression, that her savior would be soon entering her life. From the moment Ever makes eye contact with Jack she is taken. Those gorgeous blue eyes do something to her and she loves the warm feelings he brings about when he smiles at her. But Jack is a bad boy with a police record. Her friends and brother want her to stay far away. Only thing is...she can't. She won't.

Days before her 18th birthday, Ever learns she will have to make a decision that will greatly impact her life: stay with her family on land or go live in the sea as a mermaid. The choice is one that is thrown upon her and she must make a decision quickly. But Jack and Gam-ah leave out crucial information that might have sealed the deal and helped with her choice. Since the choice has been made, Ever must make the best of it and just deal with it. It is not going to be easy, but Ever is bound and determined to be with the one she wants. Sea/Land laws be darned. Sheesh. What has she gotten herself into?

This would have been a rather quick read for me, but I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer last night when I went to finish the book. No. Definitely not the book or the authors fault. It was all on me. Because this book was so good and had my attention throughout. I like the authors writing style and it was easy to fall into. Such a good read. And since it is about mermaids I knew I would just adore it. There is just something about mermaid stories that I go crazy for.

I really liked Ever’s character in the story but her parents are a little odd for me. Or maybe I am a little jealous my parents weren’t like hers; barely batting an eye when she calls them after being gone missing several days. I think they would have been a bit more believable if they acted a bit…I don’t know…parental?

I liked where the story went and how the plot played out. I think with how it ended was the perfect way to lead into the next one. Readers are going to be a flabbergasted with the ending and will be itching to know what happens next. I know I am eagerly anticipating what happens to Ever, Jack, and James. So much could happen…so much could go wrong…and what about Alex? Hmmm??!! Guess we will just have to continue on in the series to find out.

    Awesome series!!!!

I adore this author for writing this trilogy!! It is a great love story and I promise you, if you stick with this series you will no be disappointed with the ending. There are a few grammar mistakes in here but if you're not too OCD about it then you won't really notice them.
This is a supernatural love story, but not the typical vampire/werewolf stuff you might expect. There is magic that comes along with the powers. Ever's struggle to decide where she will decide to go is basically what this whole book is about and in the next book there are some very interesting developments in the plot and the story goes much deeper into the whole legend and mystery than this book will-so hang in there. ;D Overall, good book, great series, so read it! This book is free anyway so if you absolutely hate this book you can hide it away somewhere or just get rid of it. Happy reading!

    Okay

The author needs a better editor or at least pay better attention to her punctuation and grammer rules, but other than that it's a pretty good story

    Thank goodness it was free!

Wow. The writing in this book was horrible, the main character was weak, and I'm pretty sure it could of been condensed to about 100 pages. Save yourself some time, and move on.

    Just Breathe

This book has any interesting plot and an unexpected twist makes it a great read. Although it’s hard to believe that two children can disappear for days at a time as the two in the story did and the parents don’t question their disappearances. Over all, it’s a good story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

    Simplistic

The dialog was too limiited and simple for the level of inference and implication in action it was a text at tje same table. Lazy dialog leaves the characters too shallow and their motivation erratic.

    Love love love

This book was great. I really enjoyed Ever and Jack, and the ending literally took my breath away. It was the perfect combination of love, adventure, sadness, and findimg out who you really are. I applaud you Heather Allen! This (her first published novel) is a wonderful ebook. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors but nothing too serious. I can't wait to read the next book!

It was a pretty childish book

** small spoiler on the 'characters' part of the review**
The author had a good idead going on with the whole mermaids thing. I've only read one other book series with mermaids and it was 'Of Poseidon' ( which was an okay book that i'd give 3.5 stars. But compared to this book, Of Poseidon seemed like a masterpiece). The author seemed to lack a strong writing style, character descriptions, and plot. Not to mention there was a lack of emotion, that is a must for a book to really speak to you.
That was just what was wrong with the book overall, there are still characters that need to be discussed.
    * Jack- was a very dull character. He's suppost to love her Ever, but I don't see or feel those emotions. And without proper emotion and character action, Jack seems pretty fake. I like the eye idea, I haven't read many books that have used this idea. I just don't like how its incorporated into this story. Its like every 4th word out of Ever's mouth caused Jack's eyes to turn green and every 7th word causes them to go back to a radiant blue. Like what's up with that??
    * Ever- she had the potential to be a great character. But everything about her seemed really artificial. Her decision ma,ing process is what really annoyed me. She chose to go to the sea even though they told her that that would ruin her younger brother and kill James, and she still chose it. Like some family love she has. I just didn't like any of her choices and how she reacted in situations.
    * Gran Ma- I don't think that'd how it is spelled, sorry about that. She was suppost to help and explain things to Ever and when she arrived, she did just that. But there are things that Ever wanted guidance in later on, before maki.g the big choice, amd guess what?? The gran ma was really immature and opposed to telling anything else. Like what's that? Some help she was.
Utimetly this book was not the worst book I've read but it was pretty far from the top. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who takes their books seriously.
