Overview

From the New York Times bestselling author of Chance of a Lifetime and The Comforts of Home...

Harmony, Texas, is a place where dreams are born. As the townspeople face unexpected endings and new beginnings, they also come face to face with themselves—and what’s most important in life...

When Tinch Turner lost his wife, he gave up on living. Now he spends his nights brooding, boozing, and brawling. When one of his escapades lands him in the ER, he finds himself staring up at the beautiful new doctor in town. For the first time in years, he feels a spark, but Addison Spencer wants nothing to do with the unruly rancher—or any man for that matter. She’s only in Harmony four months, long enough for the trouble she left behind to be over. But then a vulnerable little boy barrels into both their lives, forcing them out of the past—and into a future where love is just down the road...

In the meantime, as Reagan Truman grieves for her beloved uncle, she finds comfort in the makeshift family she’s made in Harmony—and in a new baby, the first born in the Wright Funeral Home in 45 years, proving to everyone that life does go on…

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Thomas’s fourth Harmony novel (after The Comforts of Home) introduces a strong, compelling heroine. Addison Spencer is a doctor in Harmony, Tex., hiding from her past. Tinch Turner is a cowboy, coping with his grief for his dead wife. Tinch gets custody of his nephew, Jamie, the son of his wife’s druggie sister, but it turns out Jamie has a secret of his own: he’s being hunted by the drug dealer who killed his mother. Addison and Tinch come together first to protect Jamie and then to explore their own irresistible attraction, while the whole town of Harmony bands together to save Jamie’s life. Readers unfamiliar with Harmony will not find this as immediately engaging as Thomas’s previous works, but for dedicated fans, it is a welcome return packed with cameos from familiar characters. Agent: Gail Fortune, the Talbot Fortune Agency. (Apr.)

    Enjoyable Read

This is book four of the Harmony series and it brings us in contact with many of the characters we’ve grown to love in the first three books while introducing new ones to us that were easily brought into the fold of Harmony but that were at first difficult to get to know and love. Thomas has a way of effortlessly weaving many story lines together to draw you in more and more to the town and townspeople. Her descriptions are vivid that you feel you are there on the ranches, in the orchard, in town. She adds a depth to her characters that brings you face to face with them while they are trying to figure out if they will let others in. There was darkness, mystery, sadness, romance, family and friends, laughter and some tears. There were several happily ever afters, some unexpected, but oh so much more story to tell since we are far from seeing closure. I loved the sweetness of Noah and Reagan’s romance once they both realized they were more than friends and hope we can read more about them in the next book in the series. It was also heartwarming to see how loner Tinch Turner was able to let others help him when necessary and to realize that he could love again. I hope there will be a book five in the series and looking forward to reading it if there is.

Favorite Quote: “Apparently every Matheson in town knew what was going on. Which translated to almost half the town knowing he was hiding the boy from the drug dealers who might have killed his mother. The upside to every Matheson relative knowing was that they’d be watching for strangers. The downside was that they were in his business.”

    Love this series

This is my favorite in this series, it reminds me of the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr. Small town, love story, characters feel like friends.

Having grown up in Texas, I have loved how Jodi Thomas incorporates some Texas history in many of her novels. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Harmony, Texas, series as so many of the characters could be living in my own small town. Ms. Thomas has given many enjoyable hours of relaxation to my mother, sister & myself.

I like the book, but I felt it also leave you unsatistied. I was also hoping there would be a follow-up on Ronny and Marty, but that didn't really happen. And with the way it ending, I'm not sure there will be a 5th book to this story.
