I searched far and wide for a simple book like this. I had little time to learn French and went well off the beaten (tourist) path in Paris and this book helped immeasurably. This had all the necessary phrases I needed: from telling the hotel clerk the toilet was leaking, getting a room for the night (avec toilette, san douche), buying an alarm clock in the department store, catching the bus to the RER...I could go on. Very useful, inexpensive and it never left my breast pocket of my jacket (right next to the Metro map) the entire trip in Paris. Worth every centime, I mean penny.
