It's a man in a Grateful Dead t-shirt who saves her life, and then disappears without a trace. A total stranger-and yet Kate would give anything to see him again. How is she to know that her mystery man is planning a new, far-away life for himself, one that doesn't include romance, even if he can't seem to get the woman in red lace out of his mind?

Romance isn't high on Kate's list of priorities either. But when the handsome good Samaritan shows up on her doorstep, they discover that even the strongest heart is no match for love...

Editorial Reviews

Amazon - Tracy Vest
Bretton's latest is a great romantic comedy, which refreshingly features mature protagonists. The story is breezy, funny, and charming -- a real surprise.
RT - Romantic Times
*TOP PICK* Bretton's lyrical writing enthralls from the first page as she immerses readers in a tale of romance and new beginnings.
BOOKLIST - Shelley Mosley
*STARRED REVIEW* Very few romance writers create characters as well developed and realistic as Bretton's. Her books pull you in and don't let you leave until the last word is read.
BellaOnline - Elizabeth Darrach
This one will keep you reading past your bedtime.
The Romance Reader - Susan Scribner
Bretton has few peers among contemporary romance novelists when it comes to combining escapist romance with everyday, messy reality. She’ll make you believe that love can happen anywhere – or make you grateful that you’ve been fortunate enough to find it.

Meet the Author

From Barbara Bretton:

Readers are everything.

Seeing your name in print is terrific. Good reviews put a smile on an author's face.

But the absolute best thing about being a writer is being read. Knowing that your words are making someone you're not even related to happy. Knowing that your story is helping to make a bad day better for a stranger who needed to escape for a few hours. Knowing that the imaginary friends you've spent the last few months with are out there in the world becoming just as real to a reader you'll never meet, but know and love just the same.

See what I mean?

Readers are everything.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being there. And, if you're new to my work, welcome. I hope you'll read a few of my other titles and let me know what you think. You can always reach me on Facebook or Twitter as barbarabretton or directly through my website www.barbarabretton.com

    Loved it!

I always know that when I open a Barbara Bretton book, I'm in for a great read. She never disappoints. Her books are fun and funny and touching and real. Her characters are smart and sassy and vulnerable and prone to the life crises we all experience. It doesn't get any better than that.

    exhilarating contemporary romance

In Princeton, New Jersey fortyish antiques store owner Kate French suddenly feels immense chest pains and collapses in a parking lot. She lies on the ground where any passerby can see her red thong underwear, an item that the normally straight-laced single mom of an adult daughter would never be caught dead wearing. A Deadhead wearing a Grateful Dead T-shirt administers CPR saving her life until the ambulance arrives to take her to the hospital. Kate wants to thank her hero while her hero Mark Kerry wants to insure she is okay especially since his thoughts linger on the red thong though he knows how inappropriate that is. When Mark and Kate meet sparks fly although neither of the forty something pair expected to fall in love. --- This is an exhilarating contemporary romance that is much deeper than the brief description above as Barbara Bretton explores multiple relationships, besides that of the lead couple. The cast drives the terrific story line as the protagonists and the secondary players seem so filled with life. Subgenre fans will want to read this delightful Jersey romance enhanced by Kate¿s daughter who wants the best for her mom, but fears being left out in the cold if that becomes Mark. --- Harriet Klausner

    A reviewer

I love Barbara Bretton's way of looking at life, always a happy ending and not too far a road to get there. Her latest 'Just LIke Heavan' is no exception. This book has it all from belly laughing to tears. I loved it.
