Meet the Author

Born in Germany, immigrated to Canada when she was three, wife of one (for over 46 years), mother of three, grandmother of three, teacher, writer, cook, website consultant, mentor, and lover of life: that’s Oma Gerhild.

She is so thankful for her Mutti who taught her a love for German food and how to cook it. Now, Oma Gerhild enjoys being able to share her German heritage and culture with others via www.quick-german-recipes.com and www.facebook.com/QuickGermanRecipes.

It’s always a joy for Oma when someone writes in to say that what they’ve read and/or made has rekindled fond memories of being in the kitchen with their Mutti and their Oma.

Loving traditional German foods, but not necessarily the time needed to make them has resulted in experimentation to make them quicker. As well, not all German ingredients are available where she lives. Again, time to experiment. The successful results end up on the Oma's dinner table with photos and recipes posted to the website, Facebook, and her books. A yummy hobby!

Guten Appetit!
