A short story that fills in back-story on the early relationship between the Vivian and Rafe, main characters in the novel Vampire Vacation.
Having earlier read and enjoyed Vampire Vacation, it was fun to go back in time to see how it all started for the novel's sassy heroine and her sexy side kick.
The author skillfully and succinctly sets the scene and this short story stands well on its own. However, the addition of all the bonus material provided delightful "amusees bouche" or bite size morsels of the author's other titles. Morsels that whet the appetite and make you hungry for more...

C.J. tells a fast paced, sexy tale that will have you turning the pages with anticipation until the very end. A wonderful addition to the series.

The short story is more like paranormal romance and the sixteen chapter free read is urban fantasy-- so good I went and bought the full novel. And I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Quick wit, humor, adventure, and hot sex (like her erotica titles but not as much sex). The author has a fun voice and Ms. Ellison puts the "bite" back into vampires -- like they should be rather than sparkly!!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I was extremely disappointed in this "short story" as to how the two main characters met. There is no real discussion, other than he showed up on her doorstep. But even that is not true because she mentions that she knew him when studied Yoga with his Mother years before. And I hate how it ended; it leaves you hanging as to what happened after she tried to enthrall him. I think this was a waste of time, the story I enjoyed was the excerpt from the next book, Vampire Vacation. Don't bother with this, it doesn't explain anything. This kind of story strikes me as lazy and disrespectful to the authors readers who are asking for a certain story and so the author throws something together without much thought.

This story is the preview to a seroes of stories about a vampire hotel in ALaska. The whole series is great. Make sure you read the other books by this author in this series as well. Dria the main character just gets better with each book.

It was an ok read. Should have had a better editor or a 1st. reader to help catch garmatical errors and adjust continuity.

Overview
Like your vampires strong, deadly and full of passion? The twist this time is the ancient vampire is a woman and it's a delectable, innocent human man *she* needs to resist. In 1945 Dria runs an exclusive Paris hotel for the undead. The strong young man tracks her down, determined to win her over. This 2500-word short story is for the fans who wanted to know how Dria (Vivian) and Rafe met. It's simply a taste of their tumultuous beginning, but their full story—including Dria's much asked about past—will be the sole focus of the full length novel, book four, in The V V Inn series.
