Overview

Mathematician Renee Carter jokes that she was raised by a hotel maid and a television. It's not far from the truth. She spent most of her childhood following her father from city to city as he played poker in back-alley bars, illegal card rooms and casinos. Those years around poker tables drilled lessons into her that she's never forgotten: always be observant, always be wary, and always watch your opponent. Until now, she never realized how important those lessons really are.

While investigating a database she isn't supposed to have, she and a colleague discover a pattern no one is supposed to find. Two weeks later, her colleague is murdered in his office. Not knowing whom she can trust, she runs, knowing that her only chance is to unravel a conspiracy that reaches across international lines and deep into the halls of American governance. If she lives, she'll never be the same; if she dies, no one will ever know.

    Loved it

After reading Chris Culver's The Abbey, I couldn't wait for his next book to be published. Just Run did not disappoint! The story flows well, the characters are well developed and the mystery is not solved until the last chapters. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Can't wait for the next one!

Very good book, hard not to read from beginning to end, nonstop.

The first 90% of the book is extremely good, keeping you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out any way out of the characters' dilemma. The final pages, where the plot is resolved are not as satisfying a I hoped, leaving some things not explained. It is still a very good book to spend an afternoon on.

    Amazing! Great storyteller

Just Run is the second book by this author that I had just discovered, having bought it because I was (1) looking for new authors and (2) it was cheap! The beginning seemed a little stumbly and kinda amateurish, but quickly revved up to a 'I can't put this down'! After the first book by this author I was wondering why I hadn't run across him before.

Very tight suspense, better than even his last novel !

Culver has this unique narrative in his story telling that he has just the perfect inclusion of pertinent detail. As a result it is extremely easy to follow the story because everything is laid out in vivid detail, as though I am there in person. Too much or too little details could otherwise cause doubt and distraction. So this latest (?) novel is very exciting and quite a fast pace page turner, and I could finish reading the 500 pages in the same day had I not exercise some control.

In addition, the character set and story is totally fresh and different than his last book, The Abbey. I think that shows his talent in writing. He does not have to rely on sequels to reap a profit. And the plot this time is much much much more believable than The Abbey.

It's worth my money in another word.

    Great Read

Chris Culver's latest was a great read. Through a well developed plot and interesting characters, it will keep you involved right up until the end. I highly recommend this book for all mystery readers. Can't wait to read his third book due out soon - I hope!

    Why Bother

Run, run, run! I could have written this whole 505 page book in 25 pages or less and made it more interesting. Give it a pass.

Kept my interest to the very end

500 pages kept my interest to the very end. An unlikely pair run for their lives in a well written action mystery. Do they trust each other every moment? No... but need each other to survive.
Worth reading will keep your interested to the last page.
