I was skeptical of this book given the title. Once I got started I could not put it down and read it in a day. Ellen is a great 'everywoman' who always puts her family first. On a free trip to a singles resort in the tropics she learns to take care of herself as well.

Great book. I haven't had a chance to read a book for fun in about 10 years. I came across this one by chance and couldn't put it down. I have already recommended it to my friends and sister

This was a fast, enjoying read. I think a lot of American women can relate and identify with Ellen and her values.

One of my favorites. Its about a woman with a lousy cheating husband who explains that sex isnt always emotional, just physical. So upon striking a deal with him, she is offered to go on a trip to seek out "just sex" so that she can better understand why and how he could so easily cheat. The main character is a strong woman, it just takes her some time to figure that out. Worth the purchase.

I was torn between liking this book and disliking it. I was very drawn into Ellen's character and felt bad for her. Although the ending was somewhat what I wanted to happen...I wasn't too thrilled about it.

You feel bad for the main character because all she wants is to be loved from her husband. She wants to believe in him but he gives her many reasons not too. Her best friend and husband aren't the people she thought they were.

It captures the readers and although this is not a romance novel by any means, it definitely has a very sizzling and some times humorous plot.
This is a story about a woman, Ellen who has been married for 20 years to Tom and finds out her husband has been cheating on her. His excuse, "... it didn't mean anything. It was just sex!"
The story begins with them trying to reconcile and figure out how to get back together. Initially, you are rooting for them to do so until her best friend, Jill, send her on a week-long adventure to a single's island where she is supposed to find out that sex is just that, sex (per Tom). Tom has given her every married woman's dream of having an affair, however, that is not who Ellen is and she finds herself wondering if through the years she has lost her sense of adventure and sizzle until she meets Jake and passion ignites and sparks fly.
It was just sex ... right?

This book was one i chose randomly, not really sure if i would even like it. I finished this book in less than 3 days. Once i picked it up, i couldn't put it down! It was different, and interesting. I loved the story line, and the suspense. You were never really sure what was going to happen, or how it would all turn out. Very good book! There was romance, but along with a very plausable story line. I have recommended this book to many of my friends!

GREAT book for a true Romantic, and for anyone who has felt betrayed by a partner in a long term relationship. Also, great for a woman's ego when she thinks she's "over the hill" and life has nothing more to offer than caring for others selflessly. A bit explicit at times, but still a great read, actually even more so!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.Ellen Markham's husband Tom insists that he loves her and that his serial affairs are simply 'JUST SEX'. Rather then give up on the hot action he craves, he attempts to persuade Ellen to try it she refuses as all she wants is a monogamous relationship with as faithful of a partner as she is to him. Instead after two decades of marriage Ellen leaves her spouse taking their teens with her.------- Needing some time by herself and encouraged by her best friend Jill, Ellen heads to the Tropics where she plans to heed Tom¿s ¿sage advice and find a lover. Still as she seeks a hunk to help her find her groove, she knows she just wants her Tom, but without his womanizing.----------- Susan Kay law provides an interesting family drama starring strong characters. Tom is fascinating as he rationalizes his sexual encounters outside of the marriage as just safe sex to spice up his life Ellen sees him as just cheating. When she decides to ¿test¿ his hypothesis using a free ¿get out of jail¿ card handed to her by Tom, readers will root for her to find more than just a fling instead readers will sympathize with the heroine and hope she obtains a new faithful love.------------ Harriet Klausner
